7:00pm Southern University @ New Mexico State
After going on a three game skid beginning on Nov. 29, New Mexico State finally snapped the string last week against West New Mexico blowing them out 92-65. In that game, Hernst Laroche had his best scoring outing of the season going for 18 points and adding 4 rebounds, 3 asts and a season best 5 stls in 20 minutes. Also to note is that starter and second leading scorer Christian Kabongo did not play in the game due to a suspension and freshman Daniel Mullings was inserted in his place. Mullings played well going for 9 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, a steal and a spectacular block in 27 minutes. This game against Southern will not be as easy as the Aggies last win but the Jaguars are riding a three game losing streak and could be ready to pounce. It will be interesting to see if Kabongo is in the lineup tonight but the suspension placed on him by Coach Marvin Menzies was stated as indefinite by the school.
7:00pm Utah Valley @ Maine
Freshman sensation Justin Edwards was on fire in the early part of the season until his Maine Black Bears team took a trip out west to play San Diego nine days ago. After going for six straight double figure scoring games, five of them 20 or more points, he was held to just 4 by the Toreros on 2-of-10 shooting. He’s had some time to rest up and refocus so Edwards should be ready to tangle with Utah Valley who are coming off a tight three point loss to Grambling State just a few days ago. Edwards will likely be looking to redeem himself tonight and start that talk again of him as the America East Conference Rookie of the Year. He’s still among the best players in the conference after all.
And here is where the rest of the men are playing today …
7:00pm Cleveland State @ South Florida
7:00pm Belmont @ Marshall
7:00pm Tennessee Tech @ West Virginia
7:30pm Coppin State @ Charlotte
8:00pm Paul Quinn @ Baylor – In Baylor’s 86-83 win over BYU this past Saturday, Brady Heslip had a huge game going for 18 points, all of them from behind the three point line. I’m sure Paul Quinn will be a romp for the Bears so Heslip could go off again.
8:00pm Creighton @ Tulsa
8:15pm Morehead State @ Binghamton
9:00pm Temple @ Rice – Dylan Ennis has been playing well when given time for Rice but they have largely been in games that had either big leads or deficits so it’s a little hard to see if he’s been inserted in important moments. The kid can play and there’s not down about that but let’s see how many minutes he gets when his Owls take on the Owls of Temple.
9:00pm Portland @ Utah
9:00pm Davidson @ Kansas
9:00pm Marquette @ LSU – Marquette’s Junior Cadougan has been nothing short of great for the Golden Eagles. He’s been the steady lead guard that they’ve needed and he’s averaging 7 points and 6.6 assists in a very efficient 25.7 minutes per game. Let’s see what he does against a resurgent LSU program.
10:00pm Southern Miss @ Arizona State
10:00pm Bethune-Cookman @ Stanford
10:30pm UC Santa Barbara @ California
And here are where the women are playing today …
5:00pm South Dakota @ Utah Valley
5:30pm Oklahoma vs. Syracuse – Syracuse’s Kayla Alexander had a double-double, 15 points and 10 boards, in 20 minutes of action and shot terribly from the floor (4-of-18) in yesterday’s 70-67 win over Xavier. What does that say about how good she is? A whole lot. Let’s see what she can come up with in against Oklahoma.
7:00pm Delaware @ Providence
7:00pm Northeastern @ Miami (OH)
7:00pm Indianapolis @ Cincinnati
8:00pm South Dakota State @ Marquette – Marquette has been having a rough start to their season but they are hanging in there. Katherine Plouffe has been playing well of late and had a phenomenal game in the Golden Eagles’ 93-44 blowout win over Iona going for 20 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists and 6 steals in 35 minutes.
8:00pm North Dakota State @ UNLV
9:00pm Louisville @ Washington State
9:30pm UC Santa Barbara @ New Mexico State
10:00pm Boise State @ Portland
10:30pm Kansas State vs. Northwestern – Yesterday Northwestern crushed UNLV 79-49. Today they are taking on K-State in what should be a good test for freshman point guard Karly Roser. She’s among the Big Ten Conference leaders in assists (6.8) and steals (2.6).
11:59pm Denver @ Hawaii
