8:00pm Nicholls State @ Texas
Texas’ Myck Kabongo has been playing like a vet in the last four games. After that game against Sam Houston State where he went 1-for-6 from the floor for 4 pts, he’s averaged 13.8 points in that four game stretch shooting a blazing 19-of-29 combined. He has also averaged 7.3 assists and 1.3 steals in that run helping his team to a four game winning streak. Tonight should be a game that he can continue his great play but the Longhorns will need to be really take this game seriously since it’s leading into the last stretch of tough non-conference opponents. Despite their overall record Nicholls State is coming off two straight wins and they are going to look to take it to Texas early. The Longhorns definitely have the talent advantage and it will be up to Kabongo to orchestrate them to what could likely be a blowout win. If Texas can’t put Nicholls State away in the first half then it could be a tough game to pull out. With Texas having all the pressure to win, it could be a matter of who cracks.
And here is where the rest of the men are playing …
7:00pm Drexel @ Niagara
8:00pm Bethel (Tenn) @ Tennessee-Martin – A forgotten man of sorts for the Tennessee-Martin Skyhawks is Dane Smith. Older brother to George Washington’s Dwayne Smith, Dane’s played some inconsistent minutes early but he’s settled into a starting role of late. He’s not been a feature player this season but the senior is averaging 4.3 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 1.8 steals in just over 21 minutes in the last four games. With the Skyhawks playing a non-Division 1 team in Bethel, this could be a big game for Smith as well as a much needed win for the team.
9:00pm Central Michigan @ Minnesota
9:00pm UC Irvine @ Wyoming
10:00pm Pacifica College @ Santa Clara
And here is where the ladies are playing today …
7:00pm Niagara @ Ohio
10:00pm Santa Clara @ Seattle – Seattle’s Elle Kerfoot is coming off back-to-back double digit scoring games for the first time this season having put up 17 points on Boise State and then 13 against Portland. Let’s see if she can make it three in a row tonight.
