Today we have a whole slew of great games to numerous to mention individually right from the early evening to late into the night ...
Marquee Matchup
There were too many to marquee matchups to list just one so we simply left the schedule as is and highlighted all the big games we wanted you to check out below …
For the Men …
7:00pm Northeastern @ Massachusetts
7:00pm Binghamton @ Cornell
7:00pm Long Island @ Old Dominion
7:00pm Maine-Machias @ Maine
7:00pm Central Connecticut State @ Niagara
7:00pm Eastern Kentucky @ Presbyterian
7:30pm Wagner @ Connecticut – Here is a great early test for Tyler Murray. He’s one of the elite guards in the Northeast Conference and he’ll be going up against one of the elite guards in the Big East, and the country, in Jeremy Lamb. I would think that he’d be matched up with him on D if the Seahawks go man-to-man and the same for Lamb. This will be a huge early season test for Murray.
8:00pm South Dakota State @ Minnesota
8:00pm Mercer @ Missouri
8:15pm Richmond @ Davidson – Nik Cochran had a good first game for Davidson having dished out 6 assists and scoring 11 points in the Wildcats thumping of Guilford. Is this a new role for him, the distributor instead of lights out shooter? For Richmond, who lost two stars to graduation, it may be time for Francis-Cedric Martel to finally get more shine.
9:00pm Detroit @ Notre Dame
9:00pm Idaho State @ North Dakota
10:00pm Portland @ Washington – The third game in three days for Portland and it will be against a very good Washington Huskies team. Nem Mitrovic hasn’t been shooting the ball particularly well (11-of-26 to start the season) but he’s still leading the team in scoring. He’s had big games against big teams and this could be one of those games with him as the lead player.
10:00pm UC Irvine @ San Jose State
11:00pm Fresno State @ Stanford – Dwight Powell sprained his ankle last week and didn’t play in the Cardinal’s season opening against Central Arkansas on Friday. Since h is likely day-to-day at this point he could suit up but that’s never assured. Stefan Nastic will suit up and he could be a heavy minute guy in this contest that will likely be a blowout.
12:00am Washington State @ Gonzaga – Rob Sacre should have a field day tonight against Washington State. There is no player that can match up to him physically and after coming out and starting the season with a 22 point, 10 rebound performance, I would think that he will look to tame these Cougars. Kevin Pangos had a great first game also despite not putting up big numbers like Sacre so expect him to play big minutes as Coach Few looks to define Pangos’ role more.
And we have the Women …
9:00pm Southeastern Louisiana @ Texas
5:00pm Yale @ Fairleigh Dickinson
6:00pm Florida Atlantic @ Michigan
7:00pm St. Bonaventure @ Canisius – There are five Canucks on this Canisius team and one of them is a returning All MAAC performer from a year ago in Jamie Ruttle.
7:00pm Buffalo @ Duquesne – Duquesne’s Wumi Agunbiade had a solid game against St. Francis (PA) last week to open the season so look for her to improve steadily, including in this game.
7:00pm Charleston Southern @ Western Carolina
9:05pm Walla Walla @ Utah Valley
