RaptorsHQ Lunchbox Links for November 12, 2011

Saturday lunchbox links?

Why not. There's enough NBA labour talk to fill up 10 of these types of posts so let's start there.

As we know, talks ended on Thursday with no deal, but with an "amended proposal" that the NBA Players Association will look over.

Will they accept the deal?

Right now, it doesn't look like it but Tim Chisholm of TSN.ca notes that things could get worse, and that in many ways, he's surprised the proposal the owners have given isn't worse already.

The players are indeed caught between a rock and a hard place but Michael Grange of Sportsnet.ca argues that they have no one to blame but themselves.

However that's not to say that there aren't some eyebrows raised about the owners' demands. Forbes.com reports that the owners' numbers don't add up, and Mediapost cautions that a complete loss of a season may take a long time for fans to recover from.

And again, what happens with the draft? SI.com's Chris Mannix addresses this and suggests the NBA go with the system the NHL used after their lockout.

Hmm...he wouldn't have been reading RaptorsHQ back in August would he...

Anything going on outside of the lockout in Raptors' news?

A little bit luckily.

The National Post's Eric Koreen gives Raps' fans a great look at Toronto's new coach, Dwane Casey, while Toronto Sports Media gives us some updates on one of the only Dinos playing actual ball right now, Jonas Valanciunas.

Finally, after the break, if you're in need of a real NBA fix, check out the entire set of NBA previews compiled by Celticsblog.

If that doesn't work, just thank the heavens that college basketball is back.
