The NC-Double-Eh Schedule - Jan. 5

Today's Marquee Match Up features the Monster from St. Bonaventure taking on some Trojans.  Check out who else is playing tonight right here ...

Marquee Match Up

7:00pm St. Bonaventure @ Ark-Little Rock

Andrew Nicholson has been in beast mode from the start of the season and it should continue in Little Rock.  He’s working on four straight 20+ point games right now which began last month in that quadruple overtime win against Ohio but I don’t think Ark-Little Rock will just let that happen.  Something that may be a slight concern is the drop in rebound production by Nicholson in that span (he grabbed a season low 4 in the loss to Marshall three days ago) but he is still averaging 7.8 boards in those four contests.  He will likely not have a great player defending him in the low block this game since the Trojans are more of a guard oriented team with their top players this season all being wing players so look for Nicholson to get to the line quite often tonight.  As a side note, there are two other Canadians playing in the game for Ark-Little Rock in Eric Kibi and Tramar Sutherland who both have been getting increased court time of late.

And here is where everyone else is playing tonight …

7:00pm La Salle @ George WashingtonDwayne Smith has been playing well of late and had be inserted into the starting lineup in the last two games for it.  He’s working on back-to-back double-digit scoring games (seven of his last nine games) and continues to help on the glass as well snatching 4 or more in the last nine.  He’s been getting consistent minutes all season which says a lot of his play.  Will this be the breakout game this season for him?

7:00pm Harvard @ Boston College – Taking a game across town to face Boston College will have their hands full for sure.  There is not very much hope in the Crimson winning this game but there is in Laurent Rivard having a good one against the Eagles.  He is coming off four straight double-digit scoring games, six of his last seven might I add, and he can fill it up on any defense.  Yale did beat the Eagles earlier this season and for Harvard’s slim chance of winning this game Rivard will have to be on.

7:00pm Charlotte @ Richmond

7:00pm Western Carolina @ Georgia Southern

7:00pm Northeastern @ Old Dominion

7:00pm Hartford @ Maine

7:00pm Columbia @ Lafayette – Lafayette snapped a three game losing skid by winning in overtime at Fairleigh Dickinson this weekend.  Jared Mintz was great in that game posting 24 points, grabbing 9 off the glass as well as getting 4 assists.  His team’s been going through a pretty tough season so a win here would be great before heading into conference play.  Columbia senior center Max Craig, a Montreal native, was in the regular rotation for the Lions but has been a DNP in the last two games.  If he does play tonight, it will be interesting to see how Mintz tackles him on both ends of the floor as they would likely be matched up together.

7:00pm Appalachian State @ Davidson

7:00pm North Carolina State vs. Elon

7:00pm Drexel @ Virginia Commonwealth

7:30pm Marquette @ Rutgers

8:15pm Belmont @ Stetson

9:00pm Cal Bakersfield @ New Mexico – Cal-Bakersfield’s Alex Johnson has been on fire the last two games putting up 26 points in each one.  More impressive is that he’s made 13 of his 23 three pointers in that span.  Having been more of a distributer in his career, the scoring outbursts have been a pleasant surprise indeed.  But against a New Mexico team that has rarely let opponents score into the mid 60s this year, it will be interesting to see if Johnson can maintain that scoring streak in this game.  He can score in bunches but will that be enough for his team to get the win?

10:00pm Cal Fullerton @ UC Irvine
