NC-Double-Eh Schedule - March 7

So the mid major conferences are almost at their championship games and some of these teams vying feature some Canadian boys.  Today we have Jared Mintz and Lafayette in the afternoon and then Harouan Mutombo and Western Carolina and Kai Williams and South Dakota State.  Find out who else is playing today right here ...

You guys know the drill, check out the games we've highlighted for you because they will be the good ones today for sure.  And check in with the Can Ball Report on Twitter for any game links we may find for you.

March 7

1:00pm Holy Cross @ Lafayette – Lafayette is two wins away from a possible NCAA Tournament ticket but they will need to first beat the Crusaders.  The Leopards beat Colgate to get here for their first Patriot League Tournament win in a long time and that’s coming with Jared Mintz having an off game.  Holy Cross is a tough team and they did beat Lafayette when Mintz was healthy in February so this one will not be easy.  If Mintz comes up big, Lafayette should come away with the win and bring themselves one step closer to dancing.

2:00pm Long Island @ Quinnipiac

2:00pm Toledo @ Buffalo

6:00pm Iowa @ Minnesota

6:00pm Western Carolina vs. Wofford – this WCU team has a chance to make it to the Southern Conference Championships on Monday but they need to beat Wofford to get there.  In their only meeting this season the Catamounts won by five points so they at least have that on them.  But Wofford wasn’t the number one seed in the south by luck.  This will be a good one to watch, especially since Harouna Mutombo had a great game off the bench against Elon to help get here.  This would be the best time for him to get hot, especially after his season has been a little underwhelming after a great freshmen season.

7:00pm IPFW vs. South Dakota State – the SDSU Jack Rabbits are playing in a league tournament that they have an outside shot of winning.  Well, it will be a very, very far outside shot and for them to have a realistic chance Regina’s Kai Williams will be a big reason.  He has sacrificed person stats to help the team all season and this team has a shot to make noise.  This may be his last college game so if you get find it, you should really take the time to see him play in between your Oscar commercials.

8:30pm Loyola vs. (18) Gonzaga – so we have what looks like déjà vu.  A couple of weeks ago, this same Zags team went to LA to face off against Loyola Marymount in what should have been a win.  Well, Gonzaga lost and they dropped some numbers in the AP Poll because of it.  This should be the payback game.  Gonzaga, which has been half awake against teams like this that they should beat all season, need to have a good start to the game to win it.  They are too talented to lose to the Lions, but then again they did lose to them. If they can jump out of the boxes running, then this should be an easy win.  If they stall then this could be a very long game.
