March 14

1:00pm Richmond vs. (17) Temple – playing for the Atlantic-10 Championship are two teams on the rise in Richmond and Temple.  Both teams are experiencing a great resurgence on the national scene and this game will be huge for both schools.  Montreal’s Francis-Cedric Martel has been a victim of diminished role syndrome this season but over the last two months has been playing more minutes for Coach Mooney which culminated in a season high 36 minutes in the big win over Xavier yesterday to help get the Spiders here.  Chipping in 10 points and 8 big boards, look for Martel to be a possible X-factor in this game.

3:30pm Minnesota vs. (5) Ohio State – Minnesota had started off the year in what could be seen as a season destroying scandal that saw several players suspended including a vital member of the bench.  The Gophers have been surging of late and may be peaking at the right time.  They have gone into the Big Ten Tournament beating first Penn State and then two very good teams in 11th ranked Michigan State and Purdue.  Knocking off Ohio State, who survived a scare already, would be the icing on the cake that ends up in the NCAA Tournament.  In this conference tournament run, Pickering, ON’s Devoe Joseph has been great in the throughout the tournament averaging 14 points, 5 rebounds, 3.5 steals and a steal so another big game here could be in order.
