There are whole lot of games being played today in a Super Saturday of NCAA action. The afternoon has Mintz and Lafayette starring, followed by Nicholson and the Bonnies, then Mutombo vs. Archambault in a conference match up in the early evening, then ending off with Trasolini and the Zags. Check out who else is playing south of the border here ...
As always, check out the highlighted games for what we feel are the ones to watch. And always check in with the Can Ball Report on Twitter for any game links we find for you.
Feb 13
12:00pm Kent State @ Buffalo
1:00pm Navy @ Lafayette – Lafayette was sitting on top of the Patriot League not too long ago but has recently been on a three game slide. Toronto’s Jared Mintz was great last game in the narrow one point defeat to Colgate earlier this week posting 19 points, nine rebounds and two assists. This will be a tough game for the Leopards but look for Mintz to shine in this one if they are to win.
1:00pm St Francis (NY) @ Central Connecticut State
1:00pm George Washington @ Fordham
2:00pm Richmond @ St Bonaventure – Mississauga, ON’s Andrew Nicholson has been leading the Bonnies’ overachieving charge this season. Now they will face a Richmond team that is not only tied for first in the A-10 but has been receiving votes for the AP Top 25. This will be a tough team but Nicholson should show out against the visiting Spiders to show who the best big in the conference is.
2:00pm Oklahoma @ Oklahoma State
2:00pm Long Island @ Quinnipiac
2:00pm Belmont @ USC Upstate
3:00pm Central Arkansas @ Northwestern State
3:00pm Pacific @ Cal Bakersfield
3:05pm Milwaukee @ Detroit
3:15pm Stetson @ Jacksonville
4:00pm Hartford @ Boston University
4:00pm Bethune-Cookman @ Delaware State
5:00pm Chicago State @ North Dakota
6:00pm Cornell @ Princeton
6:00pm Citadel @ Elon
7:00pm Columbia @ Penn
7:00pm Eastern Kentucky @ Eastern Illinois – after two great games of 19 and 20 points, Papa Oppong had a one point outing in the win against Southeast Missouri State on Feb 11. Look for Oppong to pick up his game in the Colonels’ push to another 20-win season.
7:00pm Wagner @ Monmouth
7:00pm Binghamton @ Stony Brook
7:00pm Northeastern @ William & Mary
7:00pm McNeese State @ Stephen F. Austin
7:00pm Davidson @ Western Carolina – here is a great game that features two Canadian ballers on two opposing teams. Harouna Mutombo has posted three straight 14 point games for the Catamounts, unfortunately only two of them wins. Will Archambault has been doing the opposite for the Wildcats but they have been winning. Let’s see which team, and player, wins this game in a battle for position in the now tightening race for second in the Southern Conference.
7:30pm Mount St. Mary’s @ Fairleigh Dickinson
8:00pm Western Kentucky @ Arkansas-Little Rock
8:00pm Iowa State @ (1) Kansas
8:00pm Texas A&M-CC @ Sam Houston State
8:30pm South Florida @ Marquette
8:30pm North Dakota State @ South Dakota State
9:00pm Saint Mary’s @ Portland
9:00pm Hawaii @ Louisiana Tech – Tech has been on a roll this season and is one win away from a 20-win season. Toronto’s Olu Ashaolu has been seeing his scoring slide the last four games but his rebounding has been steady. In a game where the Hawaii Rainbows will be rather overwhelmed by trying to guard Magnum Rolle and Kyle Gibson, Ashaolu should have a great game tonight.
9:30pm IPFW @ Southern Utah
10:00pm San Diego @ (16) Gonzaga – after thumping Saint Mary’s by 19 points two days ago, the Zags have stamped that they are the best team in the West Coast Conference. The Canadians have been a very big part of the wins, particularly Rob Sacre, and this game will be no different. It will just be a matter of which of the three Canucks coming off the bench will step up big in this one.
10:00pm Pepperdine @ Santa Clara – in the loss to Loyola Marymount two days ago, Vancouver’s Marc Trasolini had his fourth double-double of the season. He’s shouldering much of the load since the loss of Kevin Foster and he is finally putting it all together, we think. If he has, then Pepperdine may be sorry.
10:05pm UC Davis @ UC Irvine
10:05pm Cal Fullerton @ Cal Northridge
