Media Watch - October 29, 2005 - No Rush At Center/Eric The Great

While the Toronto Raptors have one vacant spot on their roster with only 14 guaranteed contracts, GM Rob Babcock is in no rush to fill the vacancy with another big man. It seems for the time being that the Raptors will use mainly Loren Woods and Rafael Araujo at center with Aaron Williams and even Pape Sow seeing limited action. Depending on how effective the four-some is, Chris Bosh may see time at this spot as well.

Eric Williams is one player hoping to find a steady spot in the Raptors rotation. The 10 year veteran is excited to get the season underway, especially now that he's almost fully recovered from the knee injury that kept him out of most of preseason play. Williams will be an important piece for the Raptors this season, not only because he can guard almost every position, but also because of his veteran leadership abilities.

On a final note, it looks like this Wednesday's home opener is going to miss the sell out mark. Ticket sales haven't been going as fast as usual for home-openers as they have in past seasons but Raptors' brass believes they'll still get close to the sellout mark by next Wednesday's tip. Right now they're about 2000 tickets short.
