Well, there's not much to say here that Zach and I haven't already said.
The Toronto Raptors 2014 NBA Summer League experience concludes today with a 6 PM EST game against the Los Angeles' Clippers squad. Both the Raps and Clips enter this game with a lone win to go with three losses, and in some ways are simply playing this thing out.
In other ways, obviously both teams view this as just one more chance for their youngsters to get some run, for the Raptors that means Bruno Caboclo, Lucas Nogueira and DeAndre Daniels specifically and for the Clippers, that likely refers to prospects like former Magic and Thunder wing DeAndre Liggins, Jon Brockman and Lorenzo Brown.
AND DELONTE WEST!
Yes, West has been a part of the Clippers Summer League tour, playing about 22 minutes per contest averaging around 6 points, 2 assists, 2 steals and 3 rebounds. No word on whether this is an official audition for the Big Club, but LA is likely seeing just how effective the NBA vet still is.
We'll wait till after this contest concludes to evaluate performances but suffice to say that while Bruno, DeAndre and Bebe have had their ups and downs, none of the three look completely out of place so far in Vegas play. That's a big first step as usually, if you can't hold your own in Summer League, you're likely going to have major problems in the NBA.
The Raps as a whole have had their problems, as evidence by their 1 and 3 record, but more importantly, these three have looked at least like developmental options, not something that can be said for the rest of their Summer League teammates unfortunately.
