Yesterday the Chicago Bulls amnestied long-time power forward Carlos Boozer. This move came as a result of signing Pau Gasol and making the necessary cap space.
My question to you Raptors' fans--Should the Toronto Raptors put in a bid on Carlos Boozer?
Boozer is a solid offensive threat at the 4 spot although he wasn't worth the roughly $16 million he is due next season, he would make an impact on almost any roster. The Raptors showed some interest in him about a year ago, when talks began over a trade with Chicago involving past Raptor Andrea Bargnani.
Obviously we have an abundance of options at the 4 and 5 spots, but Boozer is an upgrade on primarily all of those options, at least for the next couple seasons. The only 4/5 players that should not be moved in this circumstance are Amir Johnson, Patrick Patterson and Jonas Valanciunas (although he's a true 5 and wouldn't be affected by this). There isn't much room to sign a player of this caliber but since he will go at a significantly reduced price, it's worth looking at all the options.
Would you put in a bid on Boozer? What would you do to free up the necessary space/if anything?
