It's official: As part of the Raps' 20th anniversary celebrations next season the team will play select home games decked out in those awesome purple jerseys, complete with giant hideous dinosaur -- worn by the team from their first season in the league, through to the 98-99 campaign. Today's announcement follows yesterday's unveiling of the team's 20th anniversary logo, and along with the cautious, top-down Vince Carter P.R. campaign, it represents a conscious effort by MLSE to highlight early Raptors history, and to capitalize on some good old fashioned nostalgia.
What is surprising, considering how popular the old jerseys have become, is that it's taken this long for the organization to bring them back. But better late than never.
