Game by Game Team Performance

Just wanted to take a look at how the team has performed in terms of offensive and defensive efficiency against each opponent so far. I used each opponent's overall ORTG and DRTG for the season as an expected value, and our ORTG and DRTG in that game relative to that to determine our actual performance.

ATL: 100.6 DRTG, 103.0 ORTG
vs ATL: 110.6 ORTG, 105.7 DRTG
Performance: +10 ORTG, -2.7 DRTG, 7.3 Overall

ORL: 103.3 DRTG, 96.8 ORTG
vs ORL: 110.1 ORTG, 98.4 DRTG
Performance: +6.8 ORTG, -1.6 DRTG, 5.2 Overall

MIA: 103.7 DRTG, 108.3 ORTG
vs MIA: 105.0 ORTG, 115.4 DRTG
Performance: +1.3 ORTG, -7.1 DRTG, -5.8 Overall

OKC: 106.1 DRTG, 96.7 ORTG
vs OKC: 106.9 ORTG, 96.7 DRTG
Performance: +0.8 ORTG, 0 DRTG, 0.8 Overall

BOS: 107.0 DRTG, 107.1 ORTG
vs BOS: 112.1 ORTG, 110.4 DRTG
Performance: +5.1 ORTG, -3.3 DRTG, 1.8 Overall

WAS: 98.2 DRTG, 101.5 ORTG
vs WAS: 106.6 ORTG, 89.3 DRTG
Performance: +8.4 ORTG, +12.2 DRTG, 20.6 Overall

PHI: 105.1 DRTG, 93.5 ORTG
vs PHI: 114.1 ORTG, 84.7 DRTG
Performance: +9 ORTG, +8.8 DRTG, 17.8 Overall

Overall performance: +5.9 ORTG, +0.9 DRTG, +6.8 Overall

Applying those performances to the current league average ORTG and DRTG gives a team ORTG and DRTG of 108.4 and 101.6 (for reference, our actual ORTG and DRTG are 109.4 and 99.9 - reflective of our easy schedule so far). Those would rank 4th and 14th league wide. A pythagorean win expectation from those ratings would leave us with 58 wins.

The good news: looking at games where Amir Johnson has played, the overall performance is:

+8.6 ORTG, +4.2 DRTG, +12.7 Overall -> 111.1 ORTG and 98.3 DRTG -> 69 wins.

Those ratings would rank 2nd and 6th in the league.

Obviously those won't hold up, small samples, etc. But for now, our performance, even taking into account the quality of our opponents, has been exemplary.
