So Now What!?

I'm part of a small minority that screams "trade Kyle Lowry", and although in Masai we trust, there is a factor suggesting we are buyers.

There are many who want to start the tank and believe trading Kyle Lowry would kick start our slide to the bottom. I however, want him traded for the complete opposite of tanking, in fact I think we could be better on both sides of the ball without him. Kyle is in love with the 3, and the ones he makes are when his teammates find him open. Too often he uses the high screen and roll to shoot a 3, too often he comes down the floor and shoots a 3. An all star when he drives to the rim, but that only happens when its open or in the final few minutes after two 3s have clanged. He's a point guard and although he too has to help pack the paint, he's not supposed to leave his man, most of his charges he takes he's not supposed to be there and he's actually putting our defence at risk and against good teams Demar Derozan and Terrence Ross look bad on close outs but its because at one point they have to check Kyle's guy. He regularly hacks when beaten and reaches in. Too many times caught going under screens and when he attempts over he's a step behind. Greivis Vasquez is better on pick and rolls, defensively he isn't stopping anyone but he's not a detriment and leads his man into the help better, rarely is blown by and doesn't slap like a 12 year old the few times it happens. Gravy even stuffed a shooter this year, he's got great length for a point guard.

Considering Masai had a trade in place for him, tells us he's seen the same. Danny Ainge recently tried to extend Rajon Rondo but that's no guarantee, they're keeping him. In fact id say the recent speculation is all a rue to get value for their all stars expiring contracts. Now Rajon might be able to squeeze a max contract out of a team which makes a sign and trade all more likely when he becomes a free agent because Boston has bird rights, but that's not likely to happen in Kyle's case. Bird rights would only be good to re~sign him, and matching free agent offers plus a year doesn't sound like a spot Masai wants to be in ever. Someone else making your price, ugh!

The recent winning would make you think we have to be buyers, not sellers. But in fact there may be a bigger reason we may never ever be a seller again. As much as I love Tim Lieweke for thinking big(this man will attempt to sign Lebron this offseason). I fear he's pressuring for playoffs and that might be enough for Masai not to mess with the chemistry of this team. Id love to wake up to hear Kyle's off to NY and Masai used their package and an asset of our own to pry Rajon away, Lieweke would be ok with that. Let me declare it again if you haven't seen Tim's affect on a franchise, as long as Lieweke leads MLSE, we will never tank, we will never be regarded as sellers. This man entered the opposing locker room to introduce himself to Vince Carter, if the Raptors are going to have success it looks like he will be a big part of it. It's only time as he feels out the landscape before the Leafs will see that same presence. There's a great little salary factor that kicks in too, Tim don't care about money especially when its not his. Did you see the deal he got to get David Beckham? It included an opportunity to purchase a franchise once he retired if he played out his contract for at a ridiculous discount, now he's getting a team in Miami for a price that would make Jeffrey Loria jealous. Cap space? Hah. Plan to enter tax luxury. Plan to chase the sexiest names, the biggest names, the best names, let's hope its the latter.

I have no idea how this is going to turn out, if we start to slide Masai might be pressured into improving the club immediately, while there's sellers galore. I was hoping we'd draft Ennis or Stauskas or even Pangos, and let Demar and Amir Johnson help bring in an era starring Jonas and Ross and our new PG. But hell scrap that plan, how about we get Rajon for now, sign James in offseason, Kevin Love too, and have Ross start at SG, have Demar and Amir come off the bench, ohhhh and sign Vince so we could hand him what he could never give us. Let me hear your scenarios, anything well thought out should be discarded for only big, I mean hugggge ideas. Greg Monroe not big enough, Lance Stephenson now your getting there.
