The Timberwolves need a SG. We have one. DeMar DeRozan.

We could use an all-star caliber player at 4. Minnesota has one.

Just a thought, but what about trading DeRozan and Bargnani for Kevin Love?

DeRozan as a SG or as a SF gives the Wolves flexibility and scoring at either of those spots, and he's the same age as Love. DeMar would complement their young PG's.

Bargnani would supply most of what the Wolves would lose in terms of points and rebounds. It would leave Minny with a deficit of 2-6 PPG (if that) and 8 or 9 rebounds. DeRozan would easily make up the points, though not the rebounds.

We'd get points, an outside shooter at 4 to stretch the floor, and a great rebounder to flank JVal. Add in a tough SF with a scoring touch (see the numbers out of Venezuela!) in a finally healthy Linas Kleiza and we'd have a winning front-court.

Of course, neither Bargs nor DD alone would be a plausible trade for Love, but I think a three player swap could work for both teams.

Minnesota also need a centre, and might be interested in an Ed Davis who may not score the points, but certainly will make up the rebounds they'd lose by dealing Love.

Just thinking.

Love is their franchise, but arguably, for better and for worse, Bargs and DD have been ours. Time, perhaps, for both teams to bite the bullet and do something big.
