For the first time in recent memory, a Canadian has made the Summer League All Star Team. And that honor belongs to Cory Joseph of the San Antonio Spurs this year.
After averaging 17 points, 5.2 assists and 4.4 rebounds in 33 minutes over five games, Joseph is looking like he's fully comfortable in the pro game. This of course should come as no surprise to anyone that's been following Cory over the course of last season. He did play well when he was in the D-League and didn't look uncomfortable with the big club so this just seems like a part of his maturation process in my mind.
Now with the recent designation he has received, let's hope that this leads to a more favorable look come training camp time. By my count, and Hoops Hype also, there are three players that play Joseph's position on the roster under contract right now but that could change between now and October. Hopefully this five game performance means more than a passing look from Pop and someone else being sent down to Austin.
