Raptors Re-Sign Anderson and Uzoh, Ink D-League PG Dentmon

More Uzoh!

Quick note for this afternoon, the Toronto Raptors have made it official and as many expected they would, have re-signed Alan Anderson and Ben Uzoh to a second string of 10-day contracts. This seems like a no-brainer considering both have played quite well in reserve (and for Anderson, starting) roles, and the club hasn't suffered at all with their additions.

It's almost ironic as usually adding a crew of D Leaguers to your roster this late in the season is akin to waving the white flag but to our surprise, and to the horror of "Tank Nation," the inverse has been true.

So why not add another then?

And that's what Toronto's done, adding some point guard help for Jose Calderon in PG Justin Dentmon. Dentmon has averaged 22.8 points, 5.5 assists and 37.2 minutes in 40 games, all starts, with the NBA D-League's Austin (Texas) Toros. He ranks fourth in the league in scoring, seventh in assists and fourth in minutes. He is shooting .429 from three-point range (5th in NBADL) and .870 from the charity stripe (11th).

He's not a huge guy, 6-feet, 185 pounds, but has shown a good degree of skill since his time with the University of Washington, where he was a first-team All-Pac-10 performer as a senior.

I expect the injury issues with Gary Forbes (no word on his status for tonight) played a big part in this decision but here's hoping that Dentmon makes his mark and sticks, if not this year, but with a club next NBA season.
