Bradley Beal Declares for the NBA Draft, Presents Interesting Potential Dilemma for Raptors

Stay connected for news and updates

Bradley Beal could be a starting SG in the NBA...but will it be with the Toronto Raptors?

A quick blurb here on Bradley Beal's entry into the 2012 NBA Draft. From his Twitter account this AM:

I officially declared for the NBA Draft. I appreciate all of the love and support from #GatorNation and the fans. Once a Gator always a ...

He's in, and that's great news for fans of the Toronto Raptors.

We're talking about a shooting guard who while only 6-4 in height, rebounds like a fiend, is fearless in clutch situations, can score in a variety of ways, and has unlimited range on his shot. He's drawn comparisons to everyone from Ray Allen to Eric Gordon and looks to be a sure-fire top 10 pick. (ESPN.com's Chad Ford is predicting a top 5 finish, and says that the Raptors prefer MKG to Beal at present.)

But don't the Raptors already have their shooting guard of the future in DeMar DeRozan?

That's the big question that will likely be on the minds of Raptors' management come draft day. Sure, you grab the best talent available at your draft spot but if the team does pick Beal, what do they do with DeRozan? DeMar has hardly solidified himself as a franchise piece at this point so it will be interesting to see if given the choice, Toronto takes Beal and deals with the fall-out later, or elects to go in a different, more "positionally-sound" direction come June.
