"Out-Tanked" - Raptors Outlast Wizards 99 to 92 in Battle for NBA Draft Lottery Positioning (Rapid Recap)

-Talk about a lose, lose, lose situation. The Toronto Raptors beat the Washington Wizards 99 to 92 at the Air Canada Centre this evening ruining a chance to climb closer to the Wiz in the race for Anthony Davis, but barely win to a club that missing two starters, AND fall short of getting fans pizza, by a single point. Oh the indignity!

-Yes, it was win number 18 on the season for Toronto meaning that the club actually has played .500 basketball over the past six games and with matches coming up this/next week against Charlotte and Cleveland...could it be bye bye Anthony Davis?

-Not if Toronto plays like they did tonight.

-The Raps looked to have this one in control from the tip, their opponent missing Nene and Trevor Booker, and therefore surrendering some size on the interior. But at halftime, the Toronto lead was only four points, and the Wizards just never went away. They got a 13 point and 11 assist performance from John Wall who looked much more in control of the club's offence than in past match-ups, and others like Kevin Seraphin and Roger Mason Jr. made this one a fight to the finish.

-In fact had it not been for Toronto's stellar free-throw shooting, the club was 21 of 23 from the line, this could easily have been a Washington win as the Raps' "stars" didn't fare so well. Andrea Bargnani and DeMar DeRozan had a combined 30 points, but were also a combined 10 of 26 from the field. DeRozan's nine free-throws therefore were crucial and it's great to see him getting to the line on a much more consistent basis.

-Also big for TO was their bench which had 40 points on the evening to Washington's 20. Guys like Alan Anderson, Amir Johnson and Gary Forbes made key plays down the stretch and managed to keep the Dinos ahead until the final buzzer sounded.

-It wasn't pretty, but you probably knew that coming in...

...even if you didn't realize the Raps were sporting those brutal "camo" uniforms once again.
