Around SBN: Win or Lose, Boston Celtics' New Big 3 Era A Success

Any Top 8 is a different shade of Golden...

4 out 5 Kentucky starters (sorry but I only have love enough for one Lamb), Harrison Barnes, Jeremy Lamb, Andre Drummond, Perry Jones III...

Heck add Sullinger and Henson...

Any one of these 10 options is a win in the draft. Whether it's for immediate playing time, future stardom or trade value for a needed position.

So, I say as long as we get a top ten pick, true tanking is a needless sufferance.

Anthony Davis

Terrence Jones

Michael Kidd Gilchrist

Marquis Teague

Harrison Barnes

Andre Drummond

Jeremy Lamb

Perry Jones III

Jared Sullinger

John Henson

Can't see us coming away a loser with any of these guys...

As of right now this would be mine...

This would be my top picks for the raps in order:
1) Anthony davis- potential to be a franchise player with kevin garnett skillset
2) Kidd-Gilchrist-impresses me everytime i watch him. strong defender, rebounder and good offensive touch
3) Perry Jones III- potential to be a beast at the small forward position. Can shoot, handle the ball and makes good passes. at 6"11 thats rare

Andre Drummond said he is going to stay in college another year. That may change but it would probably benefit him

To be honest with you...

If Kleiza can provide anywhere NEAR what he did the other night on a regular basis… I would keep him and James Johnson at the SF position…

I really like Michael Kidd-Gilchrist at SG with Bayless as a backup and my jury is still out on DeMar…

I think the acquisition of a second first round pick is crucial and we try for our future PG with that one…

Picture it...

Calderon / Kabongo / Forbes
Kidd-Gilchrist / Bayless / DeRozan
Kleiza / Johnson / Weems?
Bargnani / Johnson / Davis
Valanciunas / Gray

For our starters, you put MKG on whichever opponent’s guard is more of a threat.
Use whichever SF fits match-ups better, offence for defence…
We are solid with our rotation of bigs all being able to mix effectively given their nightly matchups…

And that is without our marquee free-agent signing B.C. is going to pull off…

I like that idea

I just dont like the idea of kleiza being our starting sf. I would prefer kidd-gilchrist there. I know he looks bad now but i honestly think demar will turn out to be a solid 2 guard. He’s an extremely hard worker and once he has other guys with him to take the pressure off he could be a solid 3rd option. i dont see kleiza continuing on like he played lately.

I do agree with you on the second first round pick and using that for a point guard. I like kabongo a lot and if marshall slips into that round he is an extremely good passing pg. I could see teague going late as well so i think there will be options.

Agreed, and...

Demar could even develop into a strong 2nd option. He still has to adjust to the Casey’s system. I would be patient with him.

MKG would be solid at the staring SF to give him experience. He will be the future of the franchise eventually at the SF spot. Thats IF the Raps get MKG lol.

2012 draft looks very deep indeed

That’s why I’d really like the idea of another first rounder for the Raptors.

Also lots of promising PF/C’s and you know how NBA teams love to draft size and upside over anything else – while we’re pretty much covered with AB and JV – which could allow the Raps to pick a couple of good/great SG/SF prospects even at mid-late 1st round

I’d LOVE the prospect of picking Barnes or MKG at SF plus Jeremy Lamb or Austin Rivers at SG…

Yea I was picturing MKG (although I think I would put him at SG based on DeRozan's season now)

and then with an extra pick taking a Kabongo or Rivers or Teague to groom at the point…

Leandro must Go! my new mantra until we get that pick…

I think you keep gilchrist at small forward

but thats not really a big deal in the nba anymore sg and sf are interchangeable as long as you put your best defender on the other teams best scorer. We need to get barbosas value up as much as possible but a team like the lakers whose one of the worst bench scoring teams could use him plus they have the TPE from trading odom so we wouldnt need to take back any salary.

kidd gilchrist for me is better than barnes but i wouldnt complain about having either of them. and then with your second first round pick a point guard would be nice but i think in that situation you really need to take who you think is the best player available. i really like marshall from NC such a good passer looks like he can really run a team and play solid defense

Can’t see us coming away a loser with any of these guys

We have no idea what kind of attitude they will bring once they sign and become instant multimillionaires.

Maybe they say I will take the money and run.
Maybe they become a me first player
Maybe their skills don’t translate that good
Maybe the Raptors draft a player who doesn’t want to be in T-Dot.
Maybe they develop personal issues that they can’t deal with.

So on and so forth.

What differentiates the Superstars from the Stars, the Stars from the Complementary Players and so forth is their attitude and drive to win.

You can take 10 NCAA draft picks with a “Future Star” label and maybe one becomes a true Superstar, maybe a few become just Stars, maybe a few become Complementary Players or Role Players. It all depends on their attitude that they bring. Maybe one becomes a bust

No way to really know beforehand
