Toronto Raptors at Miami Heat, Feb 5, 2012 1:00 PM EST

February 5, 2012

TSN - 1:00 PM EST

So the Raps crushed the Wiz...and as a prize for the convincing win, they get a trip to South Beach!!

Oh...to play the 17 and 6 Miami Heat.

This one will be tough no doubt, but Dino fans are hoping to at least see the team put in a solid effort against a much more talented squad.

GO RAPS!

Upset of the year?

Ok – let’s kick it off, any chance the Dinos pull this one out?

Slim and none?

Raptors on the road and they’ve shown little inclination that they can beat teams of this caliber.

by RaptorsHQ - Defensive Stance on Feb 5, 2012 1:02 PM EST up reply actions

upset of the year is still washington over okc.

by Shalax23 on Feb 5, 2012 1:30 PM EST up reply actions

If raptors are going to win Gray has to be a big factor. Not that I think he is a star but I think he is the biggest matchup problem for the Heat with his size. Anthony is just not a great on ball defender in the post.

by Shalax23 on Feb 5, 2012 1:26 PM EST reply actions

DD

playing like he did for the first month of the season, by first month I mean december.

by Shalax23 on Feb 5, 2012 1:35 PM EST reply actions

Aaah Rogers

Back here, sorry, Rogers had to come by today to do some repairs on my internet connection, back in business now.

Best part? They played a faulty splitter…which was a Bell product ha ha!

????

“Replaced” a faulty splitter? What kind of splitter? Bell is over phone line (with the exception of a few having Fibe), and Rogers is over coax.

Raptors playing really well right now

Good balance, making shots, good ball movement…can they sustain it?

mentally challenged american here

hoping we see them do well against one of my most hated teams.

really hope amir and gray get fair calls today…but in all reality do not expect this.

great game so far

derozan and ed both playing great so far

by sherwing32 on Feb 5, 2012 1:47 PM EST reply actions

Lots of energy from the troops, but a few too many jump shots right now.

Adam Francis - Publisher - RaptorsHQ.com

by Adam Francis on Feb 5, 2012 1:50 PM EST up reply actions

gotta get derozan back in the game now

barbosa is missing everything and demar is playing great now get him back in the game

by sherwing32 on Feb 5, 2012 1:52 PM EST reply actions

Miami throwing doubles at DeMar now

We’ll see how he responds.

If they shut down DD ....

then the Raps will be blown out. DD as of right now has 23pts, 2nd is Jose with 8pts (and 5 TOs)

by Carl J on Feb 5, 2012 2:47 PM EST up reply actions

DeRozan

Are we sure Wade isn’t playing in DeMar’s jersey with a DeRozan mask on?

since i missed it

how come gray has no rebounds?
was it intense inside earlier????

by ppellico on Feb 5, 2012 2:04 PM EST reply actions

Intense, but Ed Davis playing like a stud, and James Johnson has been good inside too, thus Gray hasn’t had the same opportunities.

I am struggling to find a decent one..

by Scott Campsall on Feb 5, 2012 2:06 PM EST up reply actions

an indecent one

is still better than the none I have

GREAT first half

Best of the season in many ways?

Possibly. However lots of warning signs heading into the second half. Heat winning most categories and up 18 to 9 in free-throws. Raps have kept it close with great ball movement and a few less TO’s, but they gotta be careful this doesn’t get away from them early in the third.

Also, I’ve gotta jet so leaving you guys to finish this thread today; Super Bowl wreaking havoc on scheduling ;)

Battle Of The Two Non-NBA Centers

Can Gray run or jump? He makes Laimbeer look like a world class athlete. Raptors defense sucked when he was on the court

The Other Johnson – Two dumb fouls and two missed easy shots from less than 12" from the rim.

Jonas is coming.

by Buddahfan on Feb 5, 2012 2:17 PM EST reply actions

who are we playing again?

maybe it is my feed but it looks like the Raptors are playing the Globtrotters….

by renato on Feb 5, 2012 2:31 PM EST reply actions

on the replay...

johnson was pulled down for that and noooo call!!!

by ppellico on Feb 5, 2012 2:35 PM EST reply actions

Hello Demar!

Where you been buddy?

by MAS11 on Feb 5, 2012 2:40 PM EST via mobile reply actions

z\any word on bargs coming back

any talk up there in Rap land in the media?

by ppellico on Feb 5, 2012 2:47 PM EST reply actions

on an Italian newspaper

on Feb 2d said that that was his first day walking without crouches, so I would say at least another two weeks

by renato on Feb 5, 2012 2:49 PM EST up reply actions

Smart Defense By Heat

Let DeMar get his early and shut everyone else down.

Then in the second half shut DeMar down and the Raptors down.

by Buddahfan on Feb 5, 2012 2:49 PM EST reply actions

oh. no

her come the clunkers!!!!

by ppellico on Feb 5, 2012 2:51 PM EST reply actions

plus they are at home

and get much benefit from the refs.

Demar hacked, no call
Lebron almost touched, misses layup, late whistle….

by defensive rap on Feb 5, 2012 2:51 PM EST reply actions

Play physical

Even if we can’t win this game, I hope we physically compete in the 4th.

Thrwo some bodies around adn show some toughness.

by defensive rap on Feb 5, 2012 2:52 PM EST reply actions

Lebron is a bully

He should be called for reaching in far more than he is.

by defensive rap on Feb 5, 2012 2:53 PM EST reply actions

do yo all feel as I do

we suddenly started being happy with jump shots?
czn’t we drive in and at least draw fouls?

by ppellico on Feb 5, 2012 2:56 PM EST reply actions

one more push

make it interesting.

Demar is hanging in there. Love his effort tonight.

by defensive rap on Feb 5, 2012 3:10 PM EST reply actions

when they say an NBA player is who he is after his third year

did they mean it when people were coming out from University after 4 years? If so, one could argue DD inconsistency is just part of a normal growth

by renato on Feb 5, 2012 3:13 PM EST up reply actions

I hope you are right

And I have thought the same for some time. DD was also raw coming out of USC, so he may take a little longer. I love his potential and don’t think he has approached his ceiling yet.

by defensive rap on Feb 5, 2012 3:15 PM EST up reply actions

wow!

2 threes in a row!!!!

by ppellico on Feb 5, 2012 3:15 PM EST reply actions

yes

within 5 with 4 minutes to play….we were in this one.

Played tough all night. DD scored well….Davis showed some life tonight….

Two pieces we need to perform moving forward.

by defensive rap on Feb 5, 2012 3:16 PM EST reply actions

really diggin on amir's play

on bosh!

just feeling it. you can see bosh getting a bit nasty

by ppellico on Feb 5, 2012 3:17 PM EST reply actions

comes from being made to watch Cubs games as a kid…
you can never get right again

crew has a bet on miami

they sound just shocked!!!

by ppellico on Feb 5, 2012 3:20 PM EST reply actions

Raps making me proud here

Bayless showing some leadership and grit tonight

by Member29 on Feb 5, 2012 3:21 PM EST reply actions

I wish James tried something with James Johnson!

So JJ can hit him with a quick Karate chop!

by MAS11 on Feb 5, 2012 3:21 PM EST via mobile reply actions

nobody touch the out of control freight train

because he’s sensitive.

Put him on his ass. Does he send Xmas gifts to the refs? Look at how Ed got hammered a few minutes ago and no call. Lebron doesn’t need the help zebras, he’s good on his own but everytime he messes up you bail him out with a cheap call.

by defensive rap on Feb 5, 2012 3:23 PM EST reply actions

hahaha

cry Wade, cry. Write a letter to the league how the refs don’t give enough benefit of the doubt……

by defensive rap on Feb 5, 2012 3:24 PM EST reply actions

nope, good call

DD got all ball and then Wade touched it after.

by defensive rap on Feb 5, 2012 3:25 PM EST reply actions

was that a foul or minor assault

no call of course, oh wait, a call the other way…of course. We gotta make sure Miami wins

by defensive rap on Feb 5, 2012 3:26 PM EST reply actions

I hate the Heat and Lebron

He is the type of athlete that thinks he is bigger than the game and we are here on earth to celebrate a big party in his honour…….

May you never, ever win a ring you arrogant jerk….unless you go back to Cleveland and win one for them. Cheering for the Heat is like cheering for the Empire to beat the alliance in Star Wars. It is wrong unless you live there and even then….

by defensive rap on Feb 5, 2012 3:31 PM EST reply actions

agree 10000000%

he is an examle of the very worst og NBA players today

by ppellico on Feb 5, 2012 3:36 PM EST up reply actions

I think alot of it has to do with the fact that he rubs his fame and fortune in people’s faces.

There are alot of athletes who have done worse….Tiger Woods for example, yet now we root for him because he is making a come back.

Lebron just made a spectacle about his free agency, but when he did it he raised millions for the children’s charity.

It’s not so much about who he is, but how he presents himself, alot of that has to do with the fact that he hired his buddies to manage his career. While I’d rather he didn’t win a ring, it doesn’t matter if he does because by taking the easy way out he ensured that he would never be at the level of the greatest.

by Shalax23 on Feb 5, 2012 3:49 PM EST up reply actions

Great effort

more ping pong balls and a good effort from Kleiza, DD, Ed and Bayless…..

I also loved the way we looked more athletic than last year. JJ, Amir, DD, Ed all look bigger and tougher and Bayless showed some grit on D in the fourth against Wade that was very promising. Keep it up Raps.
