Ray, quick question

What happened to Nick Wiggins? Where is he playing now?

by HDave on Feb 13, 2012 11:35 AM EST reply actions

He’s playing junior college right now … http://www.jucorecruiting.com/?p=1167

He’s been playing well and was a pre season all america by Street & Smith though they had him listed at another school, I guess before he transferred. Check his stats here … http://www.njcaa.org/colleges_college_player.cfm?sid=4&collegeid=1585&category=Roster&slid=2&teamid=122720&athleteid=348263 The NJCAA has a weird looking stat page for its players.

he will

JuCo is basically a two year school and after then a transfer to a four year college or university is next. Wiggins should be committing to a school sometime in late April or early May I would think unless he wants to do the multiple campus visit thing. I hear he’s a great player and if he can get onto an All Conference, All Region or All American team of some sort he’ll just be padding his resume.

So is he 2 years older than most people his class? Doesn’t that peg him back a bit in the long run?

by HDave on Feb 14, 2012 10:04 AM EST up reply actions

naw ...

He’s gone through the first two years of school already so he transfers in as a junior. In the case of any kids coming out of Quebec who’ve gone through the CEGEP system, they actually come in one or two years up on most freshmen. Think of JuCo as a two year holding tank for college players who didn’t make the grades coming out of high school or prep school. I don’t know if Wiggins hit the post HS grad prep school year so he could actually be anywhere between 20 and 22 years old right now.
