Game Day Thread: Los Angeles Lakers vs. Toronto Raptors
Los Angeles Lakers at Toronto Raptors, Feb 12, 2012 1:00 PM EST
So the million dollar question is, how many points does Kobe Bryant score today?
He's had free range to score so far this season, and coming off a loss to the Jeremy Lin-lead Knicks, I'm guessing he's going to be looking for a team to take his frustration out on.
Enter the Raptors.
Toronto on the other hand is coming off a morale-boosting win against the Boston Celtics so are entering this game on a much more positive tip, shall we say.
So we'll see how this one unfolds.
Jerryd Bayless is doubtful so again, the team is going to need big games from guys like DeMar DeRozan in order to get the win. Unfortunately DeRozan will likely have his hands full with you know who, so others like James and Amir Johnson will need to pull their weight too.
GO RAPS!

j'adore NBA matinee
my only chance to watch games at a decent hour.
it’s Kobe vs kobe-free Kobe, though I’m more concerned about Lakers’ frontline today.
Gasol/Bynum vs… errr… who exactly?

Lakers – Raptors Live Gamethread
Good morning from the beautiful metropolitan gem that is Toronto, Canada.
Anyone else expect an angry game from Kobe today??
Sure enough the Raptors have to be the team to face Kobe after losing to Lin….could get ugly…
Gasol and Bynum
should have a field day today in the paint…considering how poorly Bynum played last game I imagine they will look to get him going…1 for 1 so far
had the chance to watch the game
Tyson Chandler did a great job on him. Gray not exactly the same I’m afraid
They Are Sleep Walking Out There
Way too much DeRozan early
Jose
Lone bright spot so far for the Raps….hitting that jump shot with consistency
uh oh..
Kobe scores his first bucket when its already 22-8
Slow start for the Raptors
34-19 after 1….ouch…Kobe only has 2 points…
hey
I just noticed Steve Blake looks a bit like dr. House maybe?
sorry it’s hard to talk about the game atm
watching this team playing while waiting for the draft
is like waiting for someone to die to take his organs out…. excruciating
This Game Is A Perfect Example Of Why The Raptors Need To Dump Amir Johnson
They just never know which player will show up.
You can’t pay a player $6 a year and not be able to rely on them at least 90% of the time to do what they get paid to do.
He is a mental case, no doubt.
So is, like, Bargnani done for the season, or what?
…haven’t seen any updates on his status in quite some time.
Heard he might be out till the All Star game..

I'm curious to know
if it’s a strain or a tear
Magloire
The worst FT shooter ever?
What’s his career %?
Kleiza Looking Good
Go Team LIthuania
Jonas is coming
Not a good option
should’ve gone for a higher-percentage 2.
Wow
If the crowd is this loud every home game raptors will make playoffs every year
Calderon
Auditioning for the lakers pg job thats why hes playing insane
Screw that Ref
Casey should have done whatever it took to get ejected. He should have thrown something onto the court and threw his plasticized suit jacket over the head of that ref.
I agree
i would have at least taken the kacket off threw on the floor and stamp on it!!!
The game was still within reach at that point though, and that would’ve gotten a technical, which would’ve ended the game there basically. I was actually impressed that he managed to not get T’d up.
Just shows that the refs knew
that they were in the wrong.
LA is used to cheating
LA Kings stopped the clock at 1.8 sec
LA Lakers got the win with the refs assist
WTF
DEROZAN
why the step back? trade this liability
I'm a Knicks fan
but I was watching on League Pass had to come over here and comment about how unbelievably disgusting these NBA officials are. When is the last time you saw a 5 second count called, in a crucial spot, when it wasn’t at least 7 or 8 seconds. That ref—who I then expected to exacerbate his craven ineptitude with a T—is a disgrace. And so is the NBA. The team with the most stars gets all the calls (especially on drives to the basket in the fourth) and it ruins my love for an otherwise great league. Sorry guys.
And see you with Mr. Lin (and Mr. Stoudemire) Tuesday night.
On the plus side...
One more win towards a top pick.
Close, tough lose/good performance against an NBA elite team.
Barbosa and Calderon showed a little something-something that might convince the Lakers to give up some of their picks. LA is predicted to have the 17th and 20th pick in the first round, if we get those we could package them together with one of our players for a pick between 10 and 15 (maybe),
By drawing the ire of the Raptors, the refs have given our core of close-knit guys (or at least they seemed close-knit) another experience to bond over.
Pretty good outcome for us really.
