RaptorsHQ talks to John Lucas at the team's Media Day 2012-13

First up was Aaron Gray, next up, a newcomer to the Toronto Raptors this season, John Lucas III.

The National Post's Eric Koreen did a nice piece on Lucas, introducing him to fans, who unfortunately may remember him most for being the victim of LeBron James' ridiculous aerial antics last season. He's not a big guy standing about 5-9, but is one of the club's more lethal offensive players, modelling his game perhaps after another former Raptor?

From Koreen's NP piece:

Who was your favourite player growing up?
JL: I didn't have a favourite player. There were so many. I was just a fan of basketball. I liked everyone in the NBA. Of course there are Michael [Jordan], Magic [Johnson], Larry [Bird]. I liked all of them. But I also like Oscar Robertson averaging a triple double. I'm coming from a basketball house. My father [former San Antonio, Philadelphia and Cleveland head coach John Lucas] always expressed the legends and who came in before he came in and who came in after him. With my size, I always respected the small guards, like Muggsy Bogues, Spud Webb, Damon Stoudamire, Allen Iverson. Even the guards today: Chris Paul.

Yep, Mr. Mighty Mouse.

Scoring aside, Lucas though has one of the more interesting basketball backgrounds of anyone on the Raptors, something the HQ's Scott Campsall touched on in his talk with him at Monday's Raptors' Media Day:
