Nets To Deal DWill If They Can't Get D12

According to from ESPN.com:

The Nets, in other words, would have to be all the way out of the Howard Sweepstakes before abandoning their plans, having sacrificed so much last February (Derrick Favors, Devin Harris and two first-round picks) just to get D-Will.

Sources briefed on New Jersey's thinking say that there's only one such scenario.

If Howard is traded to the Lakers before the deadline, sources say New Jersey would then be forced to explore its D-Will trade options, knowing that Williams would be a virtual lock to leave come July. If Orlando keeps Howard or deals him anywhere else but L.A. or Dallas before the deadline, thus keeping alive its dream of pairing the two in Brooklyn next fall, New Jersey will wait.

DWill has one year left on his contract.

A sign and trade of Bargnani and Calderon for DWill would work money wise. Get the Nets to throw in their 2012 1st round draft pick unprotected and I would do this trade in a heart beat.

Jonas

Amir

DWill

DeMar

Two lottery picks in June. The picks could be dealt if needed to get Harrison Barnes or MKG.

Bargnani + Calderon for DWill

Probably wouldn’t even happen alone. If they traded him it would denote a rebuild so they wouldn’t want Calderon. They wouldn’t even be close to saying yes to this, never mind throwing in their first, unprotected, when they would project to be terrible.

why?

Does anyone really believe that Deron will re-up with Toronto?

Would you rather re-up with Toronto who has Jonas, DD, Amir and a top pick, or goto Dallas who has Dirk and can sign Dwight as well. As Dallas could probably move Marion for nothing as he is still productive and only getting 8million/2yrs, and amnesty Haywood and then would only have Nowitzki, Beaubois and Jones under contract. They could then afford to sign both Deron and Dwight to go along with Dirk.

If both Deron and Dwight become free agents expect them to goto Dallas, if they are dealt to a big market NY, NJ or LA they will resign, and then the other will most likely work a sign n trade into a big market team. Toronto sending any assets for either player without a guarantee to resign is stupid; which they won’t get because he doesn’t want to be here plus Deron can make more money by waiting till the off-season to sign a contract.

Why would the Nets add their first round pick 2012 unprotected, if Deron is signing an extension than the Raptors should be throwing in their first round pick. Plus scary thought, what if Deron and Dwight both sign with NJ, add in a high pick and keep Brook. Deron, Barnes, Dwight and Brook looks pretty good on paper.

Sorry Buddah

This one is so far out into left field that it has officially left the realm of possible and entered the Field of Dreams.

Agree

However, it would be a good trade for the Raptors

I can't see it happening

So would I. But the Nets wouldn’t. If they trade Deron, they’re rebuilding and the last thing they would do is trade their very valuable first round pick.

Similarly, Calderon and Bargnani would also not interest the Nets, because of the length of their contracts. They’d be far more interested in JV and the Raptor’s first pick.

D Will in Toronto?

Not gonna happen. And for us, DWIll for this season doesn’t help us at all unless he promises to resign, which he wouldn’t.

What about Bargnani for their #1 draft pick?

To Washington or NJ? Right now we wouldn’t do it because of his play over the first few games of this season but remember this is not playoff time. The Raptors have been trying “harder” than the other teams. You can see it on the players faces when our players hit them. They looked shocked we are playing so physical so early in the season. We don’t know if Andrea will be able to keep this up for a season or even play this well in meaningful games, so I am far from sold on him yet. A first overall pick or even top 5 pick this year may yield a superstar player and be worth the risk.

I don’t know if we should make this move either, but I thought it was a more reasonable thing to consider than what Buddha posted. That ain’t happening.

Either way it’s nice to know Andrea has some trade value now. I think he will stay a Raptor for a long time and if he keeps playing like he has this year I am thrilled to have him.

I’d rather trade DeRozan…

Barbosa to the Lakers for one of their first round picks makes sense to me or to the Bulls for theirs.

nope

potential over a player in his decline. Demar is 21 years old and would have normally been a senior in college. Don’t write him off yet. He was raw coming in and he needs more time. Give him at least next year to prove his worth. If he gets his game going, he will fit in nicely with the young core group we have. Right now he’s just too nice and plays pretty. He needs to get angry and get an edge.
