Canada takes an L from Argentina
Canada looked good from time to time in this game but Argentina was too much as they put the Red and White down 79-53.
The downside is that the team only shot only 29% from the floor, 22 to 13 turnover differential and a minus eight (40-32) rebound difference. The plus side is that Kelly Olynyk had a great game going off for 19 points and 12 rebounds.
Kendall was still out of this game but everyone played in this loss which is a good thing moving forward. In what was a likely loss going into the game, this was the best possible scenario for the players - get some minutes for the guys who play little and rest the guys that play heavy.
Tomorrow's game will be a tough one against a very, very good Puerto Rico team that features an NBA backcourt. Tune in tomorrow at 10:30am on TSN2 or your favorite pirate streaming site.

Puerto Rico wins 79-74
Canada’s road to the top 2 is probably impossible now, but there is still a shot at a 3-5 spot which would qualify them for the next tournament. Wins over Uruguay and Panama are pretty much mandatory now. Come on Canada!
This tournament has semifinals. So finishing the second round in 3rd or 4th is as good as finishing in 1st or 2nd – in each case, you play a one game semi final for an automatic spot in the Olympics.
So 3rd or 4th after this round would have been as good as 1st or 2nd and a lot better than 5th. But that is moot now after today’s loss.
Canada now needs help just to finish 5th. They have the same remaining schedule as Venezuela – they each play Panama and Uruguay. Canada has to beat both and hope that Ven drops one of those two games.
