Around SBN: Trent Richardson Interviews Fellow Brown Brandon Weeden

The Senior Men looked like they had a shot a winning against a very good Venezuela team but lost steam in the overtime period. They looked like they may have been a little worn out and you can see that in the mental lapses like the missed boxouts. Regardless, Jermaine Anderson, Denham Brown and Carl English all scored in double figures and the team put on a very good show. This only serves to indicate that when all pistons are firing, or in this case most pistons are firing, and they can string together four quarters of effort Canada can hang with these upper tier teams. With all the players needing time to rest, Sunday is a day off and will be much needed for the coming round which could be harder than the one they managed to get out of. Play resumes on Labour Day.

Threw it away

A winnable game that should not of went into overtime. We missed plenty of open looks in the final minutes that should of put the game away.
Still, gotta like the effort Leo got from the boys.
The announcer on the TSN2 feed was funny.Think he was from Buenos Aires.

I Concur

I like the effort indeed but the game should never have gotten to overtime. This team is showing that they don’t necessary have to have a perfect game to hang with some the teams that are as good as them, which is a bonus. Despite the fact that the team is already advancing to the next round, the mental advantage of going 2-1 would have been a whole lot better than a tough 1-2. They all looked like they needed a break and they’re getting it Sunday but let’s hope that they can put it to good use. Upsets are gonna need to happen now for Canada to make it to the top two of this tournament because next summer’s Olympic Qualifier will be harder than this one in my opinion.

Tape delay on TSN2 at 8pm. The game will be at 5pm ET but I’m sure you can find it online streaming somewhere for then. If not, you can find at 8 on TSN2.
