After a hard fought game, the Senior Men close out the Dominicans with a 73-72 win to even their record to 1-1. This is a big win here with Canada needing to finish in the top three (actually top four but top three would be better) of their pool to advance to the next round. They are facing a Cuba now who may be looking to make a move into the win column. I would expect this to be a good game as well. It tips off at 2:30pm ET on TSN2 and your favorite pirate website.

The top 4 from each group make the second round.

Big difference with the point guards today: Joseph +15, Anderson -13.

Shephered, Olynyk and Kendall with strong games as well.

My bad ...

Top four!? Kinda takes the fun out of the round robin, huh.

Good to hear that there was better play from the PGs. I suspect that Cory will be more assertive as the tournament goes on. Anderson will have these games and really, he may be better suited as coming off the bench as oppose to the lead guard spot right now.

Good to hear about Shep, Olynyk and Kendall. As long as Shep keeps slashing away from the baseline help and Olynyk plays big these guys should look very good. Kendall is a vet and really, I have nothing to say about him other than keep playing his game. He’ll score when needed but his always been a horse-no stop work.

Not really...

…as the 1st round games carry on over into the 2nd. these wins matter. As they do against the rest of the teams in the 1st round.

Fun game to watch. Great shooting from Rautins and English. Even Brown, despite struggling yet again, hit a big shot down the stretch. Shephard also contributed. As I said yesterday, the wings really have to play well for this team to have success. Agree with rbla, think Corey Joseph will gain speed as this tournament progresses. He looked a bit more comfortable yesterday.

Oh and by the way....

WTF happened to Charlie Villenieva?!

I think the two guys that will really look to come out as the tournament grinds on are Cory and Kelly. Last summer Kelly had a really good tournament out of necessity and showed that he can play at this level.

Big win!

This win will really help a lot if Canada can get the job done against the lesser lights like Cuba.
