CAN - Canada lose again to end road trip
05/08/2011
PRAGUE (2011 FIBA Americas Championship) – Canada wrapped up a tough European road trip with another loss as they head home with much work to do before the FIBA Americas Championship.
Canada went down 81-68 to the Czech Republic to finish with a 1-5 record over the past 10 days.
Their only win had come against the same opponents in overtime a day earlier, but second time around the Czechs proved much stronger as Pavel Houska poured in 23 points.
Brady Heslip led Canada with 14 while Denham Brown had 13.
Canada now head home for five further exhibition games on home soil before they head to Argentina for the FIBA Americas Championship, which serves as a qualifier for the London Olympics.

Canada Advances To Championship Game Of Nike Global Challenge
Aug 06, 2011 10:52 PM EDT
Behind excellent defensive intensity and effective perimeter shooting, Team Canada defeated USA East by a final score of 104-83 to advance to the championship game of the 2011 Nike Global Challenge. Team Canada simply dominated the final five minutes of the fourth quarter, leaving USA East reeling.
Canada was able to establish Sim Bhullar early and often, as he outplayed Nerlens Noel of USA East. Noel is one of the top-three prospects of the 2012 class. Bhullar had 16 points on just 11 shots while controlling the glass with 11 boards.
In the second half, the Canada guard tandem of Tyler Ennis and Xavier Rathan-Mayes took control of the tempo and hit key bucket after key bucket. Rathan-Mayes scored 19 points, while Ennis had 14 points and six assists.

NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. — When the 7-foot-4 center Sim Bhullar walks through airports, people flock to him and ask him to pose for pictures. When he recently visited India, where his parents were born, so many approached him at the Sikh shrine known as the Golden Temple that he was ushered into an office. People hung on the bars of the office windows to catch a glance.
