Rudy Gay's situation being "closely monitored by BC"
... so says Hoopsworld.
What do y'all think about Rudy Gay being our starting small forward?
No question over his talent, right? Just the injuries.
Do you think Gay is worth trading the number 5 pick in the deal? Who would you trade for Gay? Barbosa and the pick?
Rudy Gay with his injury concerns is probably better than what we can draft in this pretty shallow draft class and which such a relatively poor position on the board.

Rudy is a very nice player. I am not sure that he will live up to the back end of his contract, but the kid can ball. My dream scenario would be Calderon and Bargnani for Gay…
Gay and Xavier Henry for Calderon, Bargnani and Pick number 5 works financially if you use the proper amount for Bargs BYC value (6.5 million)

What about Xavier Henry from Memphis
Memphis has no choice but to see what kind of difference a healthy Rudy Gay makes to their chances of advancing in the playoffs. Failing that, the price for Toronto would be steep, since they need players that are ready to play playoff style basketball now, not players that are still a year or two away.
Taking a shot at Xavier Henry might be a more realistic option. They created ill will by trying to cheap out on his rookie deal. They have Rudy G there, as well as Sam Young who can play some SF as well.
Since Xavier can shoot the three he would address a concern with the current roster, and he would require less assets to acquire. Given the fact that most long range gunners to come through TO recently have been one trick ponies, it would be nice to have someone that also has a fair shot at defending their position. Also like the fact he could give us a different look at the 2 with his shooting, but also could cover some minutes at SF since he’s got a good wingspan. Maybe not the starter at the SF position, but seems like a good option as a backup wing at SG/SF
Question over Gay: his recent injury and his salary. Thats no small chunk of change we are talking about. And while he is definetely talented, is he max dollar talented?
is he worth a #5 pick? in this years draft… Almost definetely.
A trade would be extremem complicated, (unless somehow Barbossa and Bargnani were attractive to Memphis). I honestly think that 3 team deal (Memphis, Toronto and Iniana) is the most reasonable representation of how a deal for Gay would have to happen.
