So in an interesting turn of events, a short while ago we received a note via the Raptors' PR folks as apparently, Andrea Bargnani would like to clarify the statements he made recently on Italian TV. Here is the note on Andrea's behalf in its entirety: "I wish to personally clarify and correct an inaccurate portrayal of my words that recently appeared in the media. Much of what I said was taken out of context with respect to an entire conversation. "I want to make clear my love for Toronto and that I consider the city a second home. I never said that I want to leave Toronto and I'm sorry if fans interpreted the inaccuracy that way. "I am proud to represent Toronto and the Raptors organization. I appreciate what Bryan Colangelo and the organization has done for me during the past five years of my career. I will always continue to work to improve myself as a player in an effort to reward the organization and our fans with the best team possible." Hmmm... Is this Hedo part II? I was going to post my take on Bargs' initial comments regarding "playing in warm climate," etc this morning, but had a feeling I should wait to see if something like this came about. So the question for me now is if this statement was made based on a harsh call from Bryan Colangelo, or if Andrea and his handlers decided it was in their best interest to try and get out in front of this asap. The note was issued by Michela Gilli of Andrea Bargnani's press office, so perhaps it was the latter, but the whole situation is hardly the way to kick off a very important off-season for the team... ...an off-season I'll add where a decision sorely needs to be made regarding the future of the man who may have just put his foot in his mouth..
