Phoenix Suns End of Season Wrap Up
Predicted Outcome: 50-32, second place Pacific Division
Finished: 40-42, second place Pacific Division
There is a video that has gone viral on the web. If you have not seen you will soon enough. It was rapper/singer Nicki Minaj giving Phoenix Suns point guard Steve Nash on stage in front of thousands of people. What was so funny about it was not Minaj’s performance, which was rather underwhelming to say the least, but it was Nash’s facial expressions during the ordeal. On his face you saw a mix of bewilderment, fear, embarrassment, shame and disgust. That can sum up the Suns’ season in a nutshell.
After a dream playoff run where the Suns swept their nemesis San Antonio Spurs and took the Los Angeles Lakers to six games to lose in the Western Conference Finals, fans in Phoenix basically expected much of the same this season. Sure, Amare Stoudemire left in free agency to the New York Knicks, but they did not need him. After all it was Steve Nash that made Amare look so good anyways. Without Nash’s numerous lobs and alley-oop passes, Amare would have never been as great as he was. Nash could recreate the same magic with any other player—at least that was the thinking of the time for most Suns fans. How wrong they were. (To Be Continued)

I don't understand how
anyone could expect the Suns to be as good as they were last year with Amare leaving. I think this year showed that Amare was not just a product of Steve Nash.
Those that did expect more, I assume, thought Robin Lopez would take a giant leap this year, and Steve Nash would play injury free (but I give the guy credit I don’t think pound for pound their is a tougher SOB in the NBA).
Now had the Suns either been able to make the Gortat trade prior to the season starting, or atleast, started Gortat at C after the trade was made, you’d see them in the playoffs this year. Unfortunately they did not.
