Charlotte Bobcats End of Season Wrap Up
Predicted Outcome: 38-44, fifth place Southeast Division
Currently: 34-48, fourth place Southeast Division
This is an open letter to Charlotte Bobcats owner and head honcho, Michael Jordan. Please Sir, for the love of all that’s holy, get out of basketball. You’re ruining your legacy. People have forgotten that you were once one of the greatest athletes in modern history, and remember you for your bungling and your ineptitude in running a basketball. For the sake of the fans that have grown up idolizing you, stop what you are doing right now. You are embarrassing yourself as much as you are embarrassing us.
Okay, granted, you lead the Chicago Bulls to six NBA championships—probably one of the greatest sports dynasties in the modern age. It does not mean that you have the ability to build a championship team. You have shown to be an absolute poor judge of talent and character. You have wasted countless draft picks (See Kwame Brown and Adam Morrison), signed absolutely useless players to long term contracts (See Tyrus Thomas) and sentone of the top coaches in the league (See Larry Brown) running for the hills. Haven’t you done enough to this poor team?
Last season was incredible. The Bobcats reached the playoff for the first time in its very short history. So what did you decide to do? You decided to blow the whole thing up. You first traded away your only post presence Tyson Chandler to the Dallas Mavericks for a used up and broken down Erick Dampier. You then bought him out to gain cap space but then left an even bigger space in the paint. Before that, you let go one of the prime reasons that got your team in the playoff in the first place letting Raymond Felton go in free agency. Felton goes on to have a career year, while your team is left with an inexperienced DJ Augustin and a gimpy Shaun Livingston. Need I go on? (To Be Continued)
