Los Angeles Clippers End of Season Wrap Up
Predicted Outcome: 35-47, fourth place Pacific Division
Currently: 32-50, fourth place Pacific Division
It’s no surprise that the Los Angeles Clippers are once again on the outside looking in. They have not made the playoffs since 2005 and they continue not to disappoint as they will once again head for the NBA Lottery for another straight season. Yet despite their troubles on the court, the Clippers were still one of the most talked about teams in the league and it is thanks to one man—Blake Griffin.
No one would have thought that Griffin would make such an impact on the league, especially since he missed his entire rookie season due to a broken kneecap. Coming back from an injury such as that is an achievement in itself considering the possible career ending implications. Many hoops fans probably chalked him up as another great athlete that was robbed of his career as a result of injury. However, once the season started, Griffin showed no signs of having any sort of injury whatsoever.
His feats of acrobatics and strength were awe inspiring as he practically made every top ten highlight film for the season. He finished his season leading the Clippers and points (22.5 per game) and rebound (12.5). Just to think that last year, he was on crutches and a cast. His coming out party could be made into a plot of a Hollywood film. Here is a guy who came in to his team as a future superstar only to have his dream shattered by a possibly career threatening injury. However, through hard work he rose up from his ordeal as he arrived stronger than he ever was before. Talk about Oscar winning material. (To be continued)
