Grading The Raptors 2010-11 Performance
Players - Top to Bottom
-----------------------------------
1. Ed Davis "B" - Would have given him a "B+" but he missed too many games
2. DeMar DeRozan - "B" - Solid improvement in his offense. Needs to improve his defense and long range shooting
3. Jose Calderon "B -" Bounced back from an off season, but again was injured too often.
4. Jerryd Bayless - "C +-" - Inconsistent but some some flashes of superior offense.
5. Reggie Evans - "C +" - Rebounding was off the charts but missed too many games
6. Andrea Bargnani - "C" - Showed improved shot selection, scoring and and slightly improved defense.
7. Leandro Barbosa - "C" - Gave the Raptors what they were looking for. Scoring off the bench
8. James Johnson - "C -" - Showed some potential but his game has a long way to go
9. Amir Johnson - "C -" Was effective for only about half the season due to injuries.
10. Joey Dorsey - "D +" Had some good rebounding games but not much else
11. Alexis Ajinca - "D +" - Didn't play much but showed some decent offense when he did
12. Julian Wright - "D" - Had a few good games but his shooting sucked and had trouble getting off the bench after the all-star break.
13. Sonny Weems - "D -" - Gave us little reason to want him back next season.
14. Linas Kleiza - "F" - Total bust due to his injury
15. Solomon Alabi - "F" - Anyone want to disagee?
--------------------------------------------
Managment
-----------------
Jay Triano - "C" Continued to develop the young players, did a decent job with key situation play calling and managing the rotations given the number of Raptors injuries.
Bryan Colangelo -. " D+" After the Bosh fiasco made some good moves to add some decent young athletic talent and positioned the Raptors to possibly get a top three draft pick in 2011. Drafted Ed Davis which was really a no brainer but heh he could have screwed it up however his Klieza signing turned out to be a disaster.

re: Alabi
Doug Smith made reference in his Raptor grades piece that Alabi is so raw that some coaches were worried he might hurt someone in practice. I am curious what the Raptors braintrust projected as Alabi’s ceiling to justify giving him a three year deal as a second round pick. In recent memory, those types of deals are usually handout out to players that are poised to be contributors right out of the gate.
Big Guys Do Develop Slower
However, I can’t see doing anything but sitting on the end of the bench in the NBA at this point.
He needs to either play in Europe or in the D-League, the latter which he has indicated his distaste for.
Alabi
He is a bust and is 100-1 shot at being a starting centre. Also, Ajinca is the last thing this team needs unless we trade Bargnani. He’s like “Andrea light”
No defence and likes to shoot from the outside and can’t rebound…sound familiar?
Thats just wrong
DeRozan should get an A what do u expect him to be Kobe, he developed and showed leadership.
Amir is better than a C
Colangelo is a better than a D ( he did the right moves with the limited money he had)
Despite Kleiza getting injured he still gave us some good minutes and therefore is not an F
Clean up time
Colangelo and Triano must go. Both get the D- mark from me. Colangelo for only waking up to making the big mistake with AB, especially with extending that big fat contract. AB has little NBA trade value, an average stand-up shooter with no defense. There are a lot of those around and not at 7’ and his price. Why do you need a yes man as a coach who has no feel of the flow of the game and don’t even know when to call timeouts when momentum changes and does not have the respect of even his players
