Around SBN: The Most Dangerous Division in Sports

The NC-Double-Eh Schedule - Mar. 9

Today we have more conference tournaments starting and we have a Cowboy looking to help his team start off right with his deep shooting.  Find out who else is playing today right here ...

Star-divide

Marquee Matchup

7:00pm Nicholls State vs. McNeese State

McNeese State is looking to make a trip to the NCAA Tournament and their first step is to beat Nicholls State.  In what has been a fairly even Southland Conference all year, this will be a battle for sure for the Cowboys, even with a few All Conference team members on the roster.  One of those All Southland performers is Diego Kapelan.  He’s been the team’s serious deep threat all season and he’ll need to keep the Nicholls defense from collapsing on the McNeese interior players with his shooting.  He was battling an illness towards the end of the regular season and still managed to play 24 minutes and score 10 points in his own flu game.  Whether well or not, Kapelan will need to come out and start to hit from outside early.  On paper, the Cowboys should win this game since they have won the last two meetings but it’s the post season now and the intensity is dialed up a notch.  If Kapelan is good to go and is money from outside tonight, this will be a romp but if he is isn’t the win will be a little tougher to get.

And here is where everyone else is playing today …

3:00pm Iowa State vs. Colorado – Iowa State had won two games before their loss to Kansas State to end the regular season and it includes a win over Colorado so there is a reason for optimism.  In the two wins Jamie Vanderbeken had double-doubles averaging 14 points and 10 rebounds. Melvin Ejim on the other hand averaged 10 points but only 2.5 rebounds in the wins.  These two will need to play big for a win to start the conference tournament off right.

7:00pm Robert Morris @ Long Island

9:00pm Oregon State vs. Stanford

9:00pm Marquette vs. West Virginia – Marquette started off the Big East Tournament right by beating Providence handily last night and put themselves in a better position come selection Sunday.  Junior Cadougan had 4 points, 3 rebounds and 5 assists in 24 minutes.  He’ll need to at least contribute this much tonight to help the Golden Eagles get by West Virginia.

9:00pm Arkansas-Little Rock vs. Texas Southern

11:30pm Arizona State vs. Oregon

I know

He had a huge game and it resulted in the big win last night. Let’s hope this is a sign of things to come for Junior.
