Devoe Joseph is going to be a Duck
In case you have been living under a rock, Cory Joseph's older brother Devoe had left the Minnesota Gophers' basketball team last week and there was speculation as to why. Well, we still don't know why but we do know that he's going to Oregon. His status as to when he'll suit up for the Ducks is still unknown but at least we known where to find him now.

Wow
Interesting change of events…didn’t see this one coming. Pac-10 needs the talent though.

I know ...
The word was that West Virginia and Baylor were in the mix but there was no way he’d end up at WV. I think the Big East has a policy against in-conference transfers. Baylor would have been a good spot too but it would have effed up redshirft Canadian Brady Heslip’s playing time for sure next season.

Still no reason yet ...
Speculated idea is that it’s because he can’t play for Tubby anymore but that is only speculation. No word yet and unless Devoe comes out and says it there won’t be for a while.

Cory Joseph QUESTIONS
Is he gonna be a good PG in the NBA>
Should he come out after just his 1st yr>
Should the raptors be looking at drafting this guy if he’s in range>
Cory Joseph ANSWERS
Is he gonna be a good PG in the NBA> Yes. He will likely be a good NBA player but may need a year or two to ge there. I think he’d be very good in a situation where there is a vet, or vets, that can show him the ropes while he plays 10-15 mins per game early mimicing the way Nash played behind Kidd in Phoenix to start is career.
Should he come out after just his 1st yr>No. Another year or high pressure basketball is better than getting onto a team there he sits on the bench. He’s a very defender now, check out the UConn game on Saturday if don’t know that yet, but he’d be need for that aspect of his game and would likely not be sent to the D-League. One more year of seasoning would be best for him right now.
Should the raptors be looking at drafting this guy if he’s in range>Yes. He will be able to play at that level, when he’s ready, and the cache of a Toronto area kid on the team would be a huge draw.

When do you speculate he'll be playing again?
Probably screws up his NBA prospects no?
Joseph is likely enrolling for the second semester and he’ll need to sit out the mandatory year. With that in mind the earliest he can suit up is the second semester of next season unless he takes a year and a half off. He should have a year and a half to convince the NBA, and everyone, else that he’s a) still a player; b) not a head case; and c) is an impact player. NBA guys will forget everything if he is the difference maker for the Ducks. But they’ll also not forget about all that happened if ends up not being one.
