Lomomba
The most exciting part of the Lomomba story, for a Canadian bball fan, was this quote:
“When I left Montreal to go to the U.S., my main goal was to go to college and make the NBA,” he said. “I wasn’t really thinking about the national team, but after the summer I just had, playing for your country with ‘Canada’ across your chest is an unbelievable feeling. It would be an honour to play in the Olympics one day.”
Canada’s junior national teams are definitely benefitting from the kids who go to the states and play prep ball. The great thing is that all these guys seem to be enthusiastic about playing for their country. Now if Leo and the old boys club can just avoid any more Kris Joseph situations, we should have a pretty good national team in a few years.
Regarding Lomomba, he sounds like a good kid and judging by the schools that have shown interest in him has a promising future.
For real
That is very good news. These guys that are heading down to play ball in the States are definitely benefitting from the competition.
This new pride in playing for Canada is apparently filtering down the line to the younger players and we should have more players publicly saying the same thing as Junior.
