Raps looking to go 3-0
Knicks have some pretty solid players on their squad so this should be interesting…
…not to mention they have Andy Rautins…

Bobby Brown
He’s been shooting the ball really well through the first 3 games. His long-range shot looks dead on as soon as he sets his feet. Sleeper 3rd guard option for the fall.

Sonnnnnny for 3
Weems’ long-range shot looks pretty solid, and DeMar continues to be aggressive on O.

Sonny and Demar getting after it.
Both are simply terrors for the Knicks defenders.
And Sonny’s hitting on his pull-up J’s as well.

Knicks take lead
With about two minutes left, New York’s up by 3, 27 to 24, thanks to some aggressive drives to the hoop. Raptors missed the DeRozan/Weems combo and Dorsey down low.
DeRozan back in now but Sonny’s on the bench.

End of first quarter
Raptors down 34 to 31 although you get the feeling that this match would be a lot different if guys like Cheik Samb and Curtis Stinson weren’t getting burn.

And on that note
Starters back in.

Raptors up 49 to 41 thanks to starters
DeMar, Sonny and the 3-man rotation of bigs doing a number on Knicks.

He’s looking great out there, really hoping he proves me wrong this season. More aggressive, more confident, shot more smooth – nice complement to Sonny who’s a better ball-handler off the bounce.

I love these young Raptors
I’m also really impressed with Solomon Alabi, great looking big man.
Was sitting beside ESPN.com’s Coach Thorpe for most of the first half – he’s training Alabi. I’ll give you the breakdown tomorrow on him, interesting stuff but obviously he feels Alabi can be a player next year, maybe moreso than Davis.

DeMar looking better and more aggressive on O
His lateral quickness on D still looks abt slow tho. Weems and DD both look improved, confident and aggressive. Hope it continues during the real season. Dorsey could easily replace Evans as a situational/rebounding guy. Bobby Brown’s got game, but he’s too small and weak imo to last int he NBA.
Joey Dorsey
Is he going to be on the roster next year or is he going to D League?
He’s not D League eligible any more unless the Raptors cut him somehow. And he’s playing too well to let go – can’t see why he wouldn’t be able to give the team what Reggie Evans did last year…at a much cheaper price tag.

Gets great positioning, really long, and quite athletic. He’s not simply a big guy, very lean but with ridiculous Dwight Howard type shoulders.

Don’t you think it is a little early to compare any of the summer league roster to guys already in the NBA? Its not like a lot of these guys will be on rosters when the season starts.
He has already played one year in the NBA though and I am just saying right now both of them are playing against a lot of guys who will not be in the NBA next season.
and what I’M saying is, Alabi is doing a lot of things in the Summer league better than Hasheem. I could give a rats ass if Hasheem’s played 10 years in the league.
Hasheem looks lost in the office of side. He stands under the bucket not knowing how to create space, and so far Alabi looks like he’s using his shoulders and elbows effectively (in the two games I’ve seen) to clear out space.
See McG.. it doesn’t matter what league you’re in.. if you don’t have proper footwork, or clearance moves you’re in trouble. You have to at least show that you’re capable of executing.
If you don’t have a drop step off the weak hand.. then. you don’t have a drop step in the NBA or the playground.
YES
That’s a yes with authority. Talked to some of the media that follow Hasheem yesterday, wanted to see how he was progressing here.
He’s got similar physical skills to Alabi but the major issue that puts Alabi ahead is basketball IQ…Thabeet looks slow and mechanical because he’s about 2 seconds slow to react to things, and understand how a play might develop. Alabi already ahead in that realm.

I saw Thabeet’s game yesterday with OJ Mayo playing point guard, and they looked awful!! Thabeet is probably the 2009 bust of the year.
The first time I saw Alabi, the first person I thought of was a less refined Thabeet. And now I think Alabi may be ahead.
Well, I haven’t seen Thabeet play so far so I cannot comment on him. I just prefer not to get too excited by summer league performances or too down on anyone. The main thing for me is everyone remains healthy and work on their game.
I wasn’t commenting and saying that Haslem is better, just saying I would like to see them play against each other before I start rolling out the All-Star ballots for Alabi.
who the F$%&$ is rolling out an all-star ballot? You my friend, are a ninny.
Did you even seen my question? Let me repeat it. Do you think Alabi is better than Thabeet? Read it over a few times before you respond.
Q: Is Alabi better than Thabeet.
McG: Uhh I dunno, I haven’t seen Thabeet, but this is the summer league and I don’t want no Allstar talk around here.
Listen, I already answered your question but I guess it is difficult for you to read English so let me reiterate for you. I DO NOT WANT TO COMPARE PLAYERS AGAINST EACH OTHER UNTIL I SEE THEM PLAY AGAINST EACH OTHER. peace out
So what you’re saying is, you can only compare them when they play side by side. See that could be fair.. dumb, but fair.
Sorry.. I retract that statement.. I wouldn’t want any Allstar talk about championships and stuff duh.. uhh.
This site really needs a sarcastic font because I was exaggerating when I said All-Star talk. You know as well as I do that people in here get overly excited about Raptor players tying their shoeless right so maybe I over reacted to your statement.
Dorsey
No reason why Dorsey can’t replace Evans. He’s looking good out there. I don’t think you can disregard summer league play all together. If a guys looks good he looks good, it may not translate to stardom on the NBA level but the guy looks like he can get it done on the glass.
Roll?
Who is this kids, got a nice clean shot. Can he make the team?
Doubt it – he doesn’t really do much else but hey, if Toronto needs a gunner as a 15th player…

Davis
has been a bit disappointing. Seems to have low energy and not enough size. Hope he has a better 2nd half. needs to be more aggressive.
one thing that troubles me
DD’s FTs. hes 3-8 at the half and yesterday he was lik 5-10. whats going on DD?!
Just saw on TSN that Hedo to the suns is a "done deal"
I'm on a horse.

What do you think abd Calderon for Hibbert + +
I can see why we’d so it but do u think Indiana would?
Awkward
DeMar dunked on Andy Rautins there and Rautins almost crashed into me behind the basket while hurting his ankle…

Bobby Brown
Any chance he’ll get on the roster? He might be a little careless with the ball but he seems great in transition and has a nice shot/drive combo.
I think so
Not that this is a lock by any means, but if Toronto needs a third PG, I could totally see him getting the call.

Alabi
Alabi needs to work on his conditioning a bit more
RANDOM
So…as pointed out by one of the other bloggers here, Rob Babcock, Glen Grunwald and Bryan Colangelo are all sitting in the same area here…

Any Comments on...
… the rumour that ADAM FREAKING MORRISON is working out for the Raptors!?!?! This can’t be true… I will renounce my fandom if Morrison is on the Raptor’s roster October 31st.
I’ll check post-game…haven’t heard anything here yet.

Curtis Stinson
He racked up the stats in D League, got 24-11 as a PG
I like Curtis but like Brown more…

Raptors blowing it open
Knicks can’t compete with the speed and athleticism of the Raptors’ squad, and their size and depth in the middle.
Toronto up 83 to 64.

Boateng
Who’s this guy from the Knicks? Is he related to the Ghanian Kevin Prince Boateng or that other Boateng from Germany?
Eric Boateng
Was a decent NCAA player who never reached potential.

David Kahn and Rob Babcock
This has to be by far the worst team of GM and assistant GM in the NBA. No wonder there are so many confusing moves.
Brown’s not out there right now – that’s Stinson.

3 minutes left but Raptors have been cruising since mid-way through third quarter.
Up 98 to 81 now.
