RaptorsHQ Vegas Report - Post-Game Video with Weems and Davis

We'll throw up the recap to today's 100 to 91 Raptors win in the morning but right now, a little video from post-game in the Raptors locker-room.

First up...Mr. Sonny Weems:

And next up, Mr. Ed Davis.

(Apologies for the camera work on this one, Ed seemed to think the cam was a mic and kept doing the "lean-in...")

you guys should switch to a Kodak Zi8 and get an external mic hook up. It works amazingly for interviews, and it’s smaller than the Flip.

In the words of Adam Sandler...

Things that would have be useful a week ago ha ha!

Didn’t even know about the Zi8 – truth be told Sonny has my old Flip so I had to grab a new HD one last minute without doing much research…

Wanted something with an external mic though – how much is that one?

There was a sale on them for $120 not that long ago. I’m sure you can go to the Target in Vegas and get it cheap.. but buy a good mic!

by Ustation on Jul 13, 2010 11:07 PM EDT up reply actions

I think the new Creative Vado also has a mic.

Solid – thanks for the heads up Ustation – going to check for those for sure. Mic is key – have done enough audio work to know that that’s where the investment should go so that’s next on the HQ “to buy” list.

Demar showing some good growth in this summer, very nice to see,Alabi also showing an offensive game thats also very nice i want him to be our future starting center

Granted one game…but Alabi today showed much more promise for this season than Ed Davis. Just did more “little things” that would seem to translate at the next level.

does he have hakeem olajuwon potential?

by raptors_run_the_show on Jul 13, 2010 10:47 PM EDT up reply actions

Naah, he’s not smooth or skilled enough. But can he be a 10-10 guy in the NBA? I think so over time.

Id settle for that with a player besides bargnani

Time is what Alabi needs, only playing BB for 6/7 years, so what you see is pretty amazing for his experience.

by Johnn19 on Jul 14, 2010 1:25 AM EDT up reply actions

Absolutely

And he’s come a long way even from his first days at Florida State…which wasn’t even that long ago!

The main reason I wanted Alabi for a pick is his growth curve. His numbers kept getting better.

If he fills out physically like Bosh over the next 2 to 3 years, he has a good chance to be a regular. Both of them need bulk up 20 to 30 pounds and bang in the post. And Davis needs to go both hands.

How thin do Davis and Alabi look in person?

by Ustation on Jul 14, 2010 8:16 AM EDT up reply actions

plus didnt Ed davis have a good first game

From what I saw before the feed was lost, Alabi looks big out there (at least he plays big). I love that he would wait for the Rockets player to go to the cup and try to time his block (I mean he had a couple of hard fouls), but for the most part, he doesn’t play foul-prone basketball. This is a skill that can’t be taught (well it can, but you know what I mean)!

their looking good

i saw some highlights from nba.com DD is looking better and better so far led all scorers tonight..i like how theses guys are developing..we got young wing players..some young power fowards..and a young center..if this team could just get a young point guard (collison) to come to this team the future is bright.

by sherwin316 on Jul 13, 2010 10:44 PM EDT reply actions

DD and Weems both look more confident and smooth on O which was great to see. A Collison type would be a steal…we’ll see if BC can turn Jose into one…

if BC gets collison i will jump for joy, I truly believe in his potential and this will give us potentially 6 players that could develop into allstars. Collison, weems, derozan,Davis,Johnoson, bargnani

I must say, I love Sonny Weems.

This guy has been doing nothing but giving his best efforts night in and night out, playing with a chip on his shoulder and I hope to god we don’t give him up.

Life is like a bottle of Percocets. You can pretty much guarantee you're gonna get screwed at some point.

ALSO, love the attitude he’s showing.

Great attitude from him, DeMar, Davis – they know they’ve got a lot of work to do next year without Bosh…

Good work man. Ed Davis seems like he’s the serious-type, I like that about him.

by Arsenalist on Jul 14, 2010 12:42 AM EDT reply actions

He’s dead serious – you could tell he was upset with his play today, even before I got him on camera. Glad I could get him to crack a smile near the end of the clip ha ha!
