The NC-Double-Eh Tournament 2010
Today's a big game day for all you Canadian NCAA ball lovers! Gonzaga will be taking on Syracuse today at about noon time so get on it! Find out who else is playing right here ...
NCAA Tournament
12:10pm (8) Gonzaga vs. (1) Syracuse - so after a day of upsets, victories and heartbreak without any Canadians in the mix, today we have a game that will feature the most Canuck men in a single NCAA Tournament game, if not NCAA game ever. Gonzaga with Rob Sacre, Kelly Olynyk, Manny Arop and Bol Kong will take on Syracuse featuring Andy Rautins and Kris Joseph. This will be a big game indeed. Sacre was excellent in the win over Florida State Friday posting 13 points and 9 rebounds. Both Olynyk and Kong played sparingly in the game with Coach Mark Few shortening his bench and Arop was out with a broken foot. On the flipside, Rautins and Joseph played equally well with both posting 8 boards and 6 assists. Joseph also added 8 points and 3 steals while Rautins contributed a steal and 13 points. This is going to be a good, intense one to watch but bear in mind that both teams have been a little on the unpredictable side. If both teams come to play then it will be fun to watch. But if one of them is playing half awake (think Zags vs. Loyola Marymount and Syracuse vs. Georgetown in the Big East Tourney) then it will be a runaway win for someone. Be sure to check in with our SB Nation friends The Slipper Still Fits or Troy Nunes is an Absolute Magician right here for their takes on both the Orange and Bulldogs as well as their game threads.

Thoughts on Sacre?
Could he be a second-round pick Ray?
Good game even though Zaga is down big at the half…think they’ll make a run here to start the third.

Love to see Wes as a Rap, finally a wing who can create off the bounce…

I think Sacre as a 2nd round pick is a good reach at this point but you can’t teach size and he is definitely a big kid. His game today against the ‘Cuse shows that he can play at a very high level so I would imagine that possibly at the end of next season he would begin to project into that 2nd round spot. I know Draft Express, the bible of the unofficial draft following world, project him to be one of the best frontcourt players for his class which is a good sign. I like him as a free agent invite right now assuming I’ll get to see him more up close this summer if he returns to the National Team camp, I’ll have a better idea. I like him right now as a future pro more than Andrew Nicholson because of Sacre has an NBA body right now and remember that Nicholson’s coach at St Bona compared him to David West who he coached at Xavier.
And yes, I’d be happy as hell to see Wesley Johnson in a Raps uniform, after his hand heals.

If nicholson is a david west clone then that should make Leo happy and hope to see andrew get a chance to make team canada, also ray what do you think of some of the following names from the CIS final, I have been really impressed with Michael Linklater from sas, and Kamar Burke, and Josh Whyte from UBC, I would like to see linklater get a shot at making canada’s developmental mens team as well as burke and whyte
I remember Kamar Burke from his high school days and he is a great player. The same goes for Whyte. I haven’t been able to catch much CIS ball unfortunately but both are great players it seems. Linklater I haven’t heard much off so I’ll reserve comment but the too could have shots at the development teams for sure if not the university team, if they field one this year.
