NC-Double-Eh Schedule - Feb 11

There is lots of action tonight in the NCAA and that also means lots of Canadians in action.  For tonight, we have Devoe Joseph at Minnesota, Big Papa Oppong at Eastern Kentucky and for the nightcaps we have Marc Trasolini at Santa Clara and the Canadian Front at Gonzaga.  Find out who else we have playing tonight right here ...

Star-divide

As always, The Can Ball Report has highlighted the games you should take a look at on this rather busy NCAA Thursday.  And also check out the Can Ball Report Twitter feed for any game links we find for you.

Feb 11

7:00pm Bucknell @ American

7:00pm Michigan @ Minnesota – Pickering, ON’s Devoe Joseph has been inserted into the starting lineup and has shown that he is capable of playing major minutes at a high level.  With the Gophers looking more and more like a bubble team as the conference tournament inches closer, this game could be a big one that he helps lead to a win.

7:00pm Binghamton @ New Hampshire

7:00pm Central Michigan @ Ohio

7:00pm Elon @ Charleston

7:00pm Davidson @ Appalachian State – with each game now coming down to a battle for position in the conference tourney for Davidson, this game will be important.  St. Hubert, PQ’s Will Archambault has only failed to score in double figures twice in the last nine games and when he does, he’s averaging just over 14 points per clip.

7:00pm Wagner @ Fairleigh Dickinson

7:05pm Wisc-Green Bay @ Detroit

7:45pm Stetson @ North Florida

7:45pm Long Island @ Sacred Heart – the LIU Black Birds are in a strange position:  their conference record is much better than their overall record and they can possibly make some big noise in their respective conference tournament.  Toronto’s Kyle Johnson came up huge in the triple overtime loss to St Francis (NY) a few nights ago so he could go off in this game for sure.

8:00pm Arkansas State @ Western Kentucky

8:00pm Robert Morris @ Central Connecticut State

8:45pm Eastern Kentucky @ Southeast Missouri State – Eastern Kentucky is having a great stretch the last three games at the best time.  Toronto’s Papa Oppong has scored had double digit scoring games in ten of his last twelve and had a big 20-point, 4 rebound game in the one point victory over Jacksonville State on Feb 6th.  This could be a continuing trend for Big Papa against SMS tonight.

9:00pm Chicago State @ South Dakota

9:00pm Oakland @ Southern Utah

10:00pm Loyola Marymount @ Santa Clara – for what has happened to the Broncos this season, they have trudged along and managed to be respectable despite it all.  Though they may not be going to the NCAA Tournament this season, Vancouver’s Marc Trasolini has stepped up as the leader of the team since leading scorer Kevin Foster went down in December and shown he is a big time player.  This is a game to watch for sure.

10:00pm New Mexico State @ Fresno State

11:00pm Saint Mary’s @ (15) Gonzaga – with Gonzaga a game behind Saint Mary’s in the conference standings, this game will be intense.  Outside of Rob Sacre, the Canadians have been getting a little less burn down the stretch, possibly because Coach Few is really shortening the bench for the post season.  But the good news is that one of them has stepped up when called on with it having been Manny Arop of late.  This will be a hard game to win, but look for a big contribution from the Canadian Front.

11:00pm San Diego @ Portland

man i hope the news about thompson and joseph making the mcdonalds game gets some big press, because thats huge news for bball in canada and it speaks to the grassroots and development of younger players paying off and we are starting to see dividends of that now, this news is only the beginning and i am sure thompson and joseph are just paving the way for a stampede of younger ballers in canada to follow

I still feel terrible every time i hear about olu. Such an amazing talent, its so unfortunate that injury derailed his career in the way that it did. Glad he still plays for team canada though.

Olu is a great guy. I got to meet him a couple of times over the past two summers. I think he made a premature decision to leave school early for the NBA Draft though. I think he could have been a great SEC player and improved his draft stock staying another year.

he came out as a soph right? how old was he. I know kris joseph is already turning 22 as a soph this year. maybe it was one of the situations where age played a factor.

I think Olu was either 20 or 21. I know he was a little older. The extra year for maturing as a person and a player is always a good thing.

also dont forget there could be two more josephs joining cory and kris that being maurice (kris’s older brother playing at vermont) and devoe (cory’s older bro playing at minnesota), 4 potential josephs playing for canada

I still think olu could play for an NBA team if given the opportunity, he has the athletic ability and he would need to work on his d and all around game but he one of the best ball players to ever come out of canada for sure
