The NC-Double-Eh Schedule - Nov. 26
Today's Marquee Match Up features an up and comer that has also been named Player of the Week. Find out who else is playing today right there ...
Marquee Match Up
7:00pm Wagner @ Hofstra
Has there been a Canadian who has been responsible more responsible for his team’s current success this year? Maybe. But is there any Canadian that has made the rather large jump in his numbers to start this young college season? Definitely not for sure. This week’s Player of the Week Tyler Murray has been on an early tear through his first three games and his team will be facing a Hofstra team that has been spanked through the last three games they played. Playing UNC, Nebraska and Western Kentucky might do that to a mid major. Hofstra has been a good mighty mite program for years and even an up and coming Wagner program may be in for a dog fight. Murray has been the star guard for the Seahawks but the Pride has their own star guard in Charles Jenkins. This should be a battle between two good players who are looking to bring some respect to their squads right now.
3:00pm Louisiana Tech @ Arkansas-Little Rock - I never stop talking about Olu Ashoalu so why stop now. He’s been beasting in the first few games so this game should be no different. He’s a double-double waiting to happen so today could be a day for it to happen. On an un-Olu note, there will be a total of three Canadians playing in this game so it should be a bonus for checking out the contest.
5:00pm Bowling Green @ Niagara
5:00pm Mercer @ Western Carolina
6:00pm Wright State vs. Richmond
6:30pm SIU-Edwardsville @ Iowa
7:30pm Albany @ Detroit – Forget the Titans’ record may be dismal but Toronto’s Jason Calliste is having a great start. With the introduction of stud freshman Ray McCallum I would never have expected Calliste to have the year he’s having so far. He’s currently is second on the team in scoring at 13.3 pts as well as averaging 4.3 rebs and 2 stls in a team high 34 minutes per game. This will could a big game in the making.
7:30pm Syracuse vs. Michigan – It’s been a little while since Kris Joseph and the Orange have played a game and I’m betting that they’ll be hungry for another win after the five day layoff. Joseph may not have come out of the gate like gangbusters like many may have expected but he did show up the last game against William & Mary when he exploded for 18 pts, 7 rebs and 4 asts in the three point win. Michigan will be a better team than W&M but then again, Joseph seems to come out when the games are tough. And this game will be nothing but tough.
8:00pm UAB vs. Arkansas
8:00pm Texas Southern @ Kansas State
8:00pm Elon @ Maryland
9:30pm Drake vs. St. John’s
10:30pm Santa Clara @ Arizona

Maybe I’ve simply missed it on here, but I’d love to here what’s going on with the boys from Texas. I haven’t caught any games, yet, but from the stats it appears Cory Joseph is struggling (although Tristan THompson seems to be doing well). I’d love to hear what the problem is with him. I had high hopes for him.

I don’t know if Cory is having a problems. He may just be adjusting to life as a point guard on a team playing at high college level. He’s had good games and not so good games. Overall he’s playing well but his shots haven’t been going down. Once his shots start going down people will forget about his early games I’m sure.

Thanks for the insight. I really want to try and catch a couple of Texas games soon.

You mean...
“you’d love to hear”
and
I’d love to hear what the problem is with him. I had high hopes for him.
is redundant.
I thought you were an educated writer?
You blast basketball players for using improper grammar and diction and yet continually portray yourself as an inept user of the language yourself.
Take a look in the mirror every so often.
I discussed my problem with players talking as if they’ve had very little education, when in fact they have. I never brought the subject up, but simply added to the discussion. I don’t expect them (or anyone else) to be perfect, but there’s a vast area between they way some of them speak and perfect grammar.
As for my statement, I fail to see how it was redundant or what the difference was between what I said and what you said (other than changing the `I’ to a `you’). Besides, I’m not playing the role of the grammar police constantly criticizing people’s mistakes. I gave my opinion in a discussion and I stand by that opinion. As I said, I don’t expect people to speak with perfect grammar all the time, especially not on the internet where you’re not exactly being graded and often typing quickly. I do have a problem with a person who has, at least some, post secondary education talking as if they are a high school dropout, especially when they are a public figure. If you have a problem with that opinion, I suggest you attack the opinion, not the person giving it.
Other than simply attempting to attack me for a reason unknown to me, I fail to see the point of your comment. Especially considering your criticism doesn’t even make sense. At least to me.
By the way, I also held the shift key down for one extra letter when I was typing`Thompson’. Did you want to comment about that, too?

lol
Hey guys this is Canadian Content. It’s all one love for Canada and Canadians here.
Tim W, Ray does a great job of keeping everyone updated, so keep your eyes on his stuff. I’m with you that Cory is underperforming but Ray and DaveH say that he is under control and not pushing it too hard like many unexperienced players would do., but he’s playing a lot of the 2 with Balbay at the point then seems to be moving to the 1 with Brown and Lucas. After running the point at Findlay, he might be having problems shifting to the combo. Next game is against Rice and Ray will have the links. Tell us what you think.
Mik, are you into Canadian ball?

Oh, I here you now…
Oh wait the word is HEAR you now… that’s write… OH! Silly me again… That’s right…
The point is sir, when you are in a public environment you are open to criticisms. Just as the players are. To hear (there’s that tricky word again) a self-professed educated person who is a literary professional, who is trained in the proper use of such nuances, publicly bash a professional athlete, who is trained in competing in a sport, while at the very same time illustrating a lack of ability to master the very skill he is bashing them for lacking is absurd.
Oh, and that was the literary mistake known as a run on sentence and your redundancy was that in two consecutive sentences you used “him” when you should have either combined the two sentences into one well constructed thought. And there I go again with the run on sentences…
And who are you to say what a high school drop out talks like vs what a physician talks like.
If they both grew up in the same neighbourhood, not grew up in the same neighbour like you incorrectly stated in your little lecture, then absolutely in a comfortable discourse they may both seem to speak in exactly the same “uneducated” manner…
Get off your horse and walk with the peasants before you throw your trash on them.
I really have no idea what you are talking about. As far as I know, I wrote “hear” (that’s what is in my comment and what is in your quote) not “here”. And I did so because it `sounds’ better than `read’. It’s a literary device and not a grammatical error.
And as I said, I don’t constantly bash people for their grammar. That would be disingenuous of me as well as rude. Again, I gave my opinion on a subject that was already being discussed. I even mentioned the fact that some of the guys speak that way because that’s the environment they grew up in, so obviously I’m sympathetic to this fact. It still doesn’t forgive the fact that many professional athletes speak like they’ve never been in a classroom. And it doesn’t forgive the fact that many actually look down on people who do speak properly.
I still don’t understand why you still seem to hold so much venom towards me that you would choose to insult me in an unrelated thread more than a week after the discussion. I obviously offended you, which I apologize for, but you really need to take things a little more in stride if you are going to be reading things on the internet. I never personally insulted anyone, especially you.
If you have a difference of opinion with me, that’s fine. Try and give your opinion with a modicum of maturity rather than trying to insult and criticize like I pushed you down in the sandbox. And if you have anything to say about the actual subject of the thread, it would be nice to hear (read) about it, since that’s what this comment section is for.

For the record, I emailed you directly about it through your Picket Fence site and got no reply. Not that you are required to give a reply, just letting you know why this is the forum that I assumed you would actually read it.
And yea, hey if you can’t read your own text (which is still written up there above this) and see where your mistakes are, you really aren’t in a position to slog somebody else for it.
You said before whenever you hear your children making a mistake you correct them so I would assume you would appreciate the same done for you.
Enjoy your Canadian Basketball Content, I do as well…
I never saw the email you sent. I looked in my junk and didn’t see it. I try to reply to everything, except comments and emails where I am personally insulted. Those I send to spam (or are routed there automatically).
The problem I have is that you didn’t try and engage me in a discussion. You came over and tried to kick sand in my face with absolutely no provocation. And you didn’t correct my grammar to be helpful. You did it to try and insult me and make a point.
This is what you wrote:
“I thought you were an educated writer?
You blast basketball players for using improper grammar and diction and yet continually portray yourself as an inept user of the language yourself.
Take a look in the mirror every so often."
Three insults, one after another, completely unprovoked. Maybe you should be the one looking in the mirror.

Hey, like I said...
Sent you a expanded thought email, oh well, point given, point received, point deflected, point scored, whatever it is, it is…
I repeat, enjoy your Canadian Basketball Content…
Syracuse / Michigan
I can’t help but want to watch Michigan basketball since being brainwashed into randomly calling extra timeouts as I walk through the mall, or order take-out, or bathe my son…
