The NC-Double-Eh Schedule - Nov. 24

Today's Marquee Match Up has the return of a player from suspension to a ranked team.  See who else is playing today right here ...

Star-divide

Marquee Match Up

8:00pm North Dakota State @ Minnesota

This will be a must watch.  Devoe Joseph has recently returned from suspension and it will be interesting to see how he is utilized by Coach Tubby Smith.  The Gophers have been winning without him thus far and getting a guy that can handle the ball and score may throw a wrench in the play.  Devoe is a great player but being away for the length he has may require him to play minimal minutes as he gets reacclimatized to the team again. Or he may just step in and pick up where he left off and not disrupt the team flow at all.  Either way, seeing him back will be a good thing and for the moment that should be enough.

4:00pm St. Francis (NY) @ Brown

4:00pm Harvard @ Bryant University

7:00pm St. Francis (PA) @ Hartford

7:00pm Bucknell @ James Madison

7:00pm Cleveland State @ Akron

7:30pm McNeese State @ Miami (FL) – Vancouver’s Diego Kapelan dropped 15 points on Washington to start the season.  Then he hung 25 points on Georgia State. And then he threw up 15 on Southern Mississippi. I’m just really curious to see what he drops on Miami (FL).

8:00pm Southeast Missouri State @ Arkansas – Toronto’s Marvell Waithe has been on a tear of sorts in the last two games.  Granted it has been against less than top notch competition the numbers are still pretty impressive. Waithe went off for a double-double this past Monday going for 10 points and 13 rebounds in the Razorbacks’ thrashing of Florida Gulf Coast in 22 minutes.  That’s pretty good I’d say.  Right now, Waithe is a team high 10 rebounds per game to go with 6.5 points and an assist in 19 minutes per.  This may be one of those same games.

8:00pm Kennesaw State @ Iowa State – Iowa State has been rolling along through four games and Canadians Jamie Vanderbeken and Melvin Ejim have been big parts of that.  Combined Vanderbeken and Ejim are averaging 26 points, 9.5 rebounds, 2 assists, 2.8 steals and 3.2 blocks per game.  They have also accounted for 13 of the 39 threes the team has made with 11 coming from Vanderbeken.  This would be a great game to watch simply because one or both of these guys might go off or hit a 40 foot game winner. You just never know.

8:05pm SIU-Edwardsville @ UMKC

8:05pm Arkansas-Little Rock @ Oral Roberts

10:00pm San Jose State @ Cal-Bakersfield

11:30pm Southern Utah vs. Drake

12:00am Arkansas-Pine Bluff @ Hawaii

Is Ejim considered a fringe NBA prospect at this point? Great to see Devoe back!

I don’t know about that yet with regards to Ejim. I like him as a player but because he plays the most athletic spot in the NBA, he may be a longshot right now. He may be a year or two from now but he’d have to be a really good player at that point. I would equate Ejim to Olu Famutimi right now – both athletic and big bodied for their position as young men. But Ejim would need to be more that Olu to make the NBA.

And yes it is great to have Devoe back. I hope he can slide into the rotation for this game.

I thought Mo Walker showed potential for Minnesota coming off the bench against North Carolina and West Virginia…he won’t play big minutes this year, but he’s part of a pretty imposing front line and will be needed when Sampson, Iverson and Mbakwe are in foul trouble…

I like Mo in that rotation too with the three current bigs. He is a great big body who looks more mobile. Mo should have a bigger role next season for sure.
