Raptors Rapid Recap - Toronto 112 - New York 104
-It wasn't quite the win fans probably wanted as the Raps let another big lead evaporate, but this time Toronto held the fort late resulting in a 112 - 104 win over the New York Knicks.
-Interestingly, despite saying he was going to stick with his vaunted "closing line-up," Jay Triano kept Jarrett Jack on the bench for the game's final few minutes as DeMar DeRozan took his place. This seemed to allow the offense to flow more effectively and considering DeRozan had 19 points in the game and got to the line 14 times, his PT was well-deserved.
-Jose Calderon also deserves special mention for 21 points and six assists off the bench, while Andrea Bargnani had a great game, besting his Italian counterpart Gallinari, with 24 points and 12 rebounds.
-Our buddy Hedo? Well the 9 rebounds and 5 assists were nice, but the 4 of 10 shooting and abysmal shot selection and passing (especially to the low post)?? - Not so much.
-Despite being out of this one early and being down by more than 20 points, the Knicks, like the Pacers last Monday, made a game of it in the second half, relying on the shooting of Gallinari (who finished with 26 points) and Al Harrington (who had 31.) However the player of the game for the Knicks was David Lee who was one assist short of a triple double, and who early on looked like the only Knick who wanted to be playing tonight.
-From here the Raps have a much tougher test against the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday. This win provides some crucial momentum but Toronto is going to have to do a much better job later this weekend against a superior opponent. The hope is that Triano and crew are sufficiently prepped and rested.

Nothing negative about tonight
You know really don’t agree with the slant of this post, or at least some of it. Even scanning the play by play post, just came across as negative.
Who did not expect the Knicks to make a run. Even with it we should be pleased with how they fought it off. As Jack said " withheld the storm". It was close for what? A minute? We played a tough game. Knicks had been on a roll and they were at home. This was on of the better efforts I’ve seen in a while. Last 3 minutes was out of reach.
Credit Triano for sticking with DeRozan in the fourth. Kid played a big game. Made the right choice in keeping Jose on in the crunch.

A starting PG in action-Finishing with a lead.
Calderon played the last 14 minutes of the game, with 7pts, and 3 assists, setting up Turkoglu, for 3 fg’s who also finished the 4th with 8 pts, 5rbs, and 1 ast, in a much improved effort.
Calderon with 21pts and 6asts in 26 minutes was back in the groove as the catalyst for the offense, in the 2nd and 4th qtrs and needs to play more minutes.

Knicks looked like they were practicing
David Lee was in on seemingly every play, but even he had a ton of lapses on defense. The Knicks in general seem to give up on D if their man beats them, and most of the time there is no help defense either.
Gallinari and Harrington were having their own private 3PT contest in the second half, with many of those shots completely out of the flow of the offense. No wonder those two players get 0 assists on most nights – they both have Kris Humphries Syndrome (also known as being the “black hole” where the ball dissapears).
Gallinari reminds me of Peja Stojakovic (they even both had back injuries), but he’s far streakier.

Banks
It’s a shame Banks is out of the mix after playing so well. Right now I’d be happy to see him get Wright’s minutes.
