Game Day Thread - Boston vs. Toronto
Boston Celtics at Toronto Raptors
January 10, 2010
TV: TSN at 1 PM EST
The Raps go for a fourth straight win today as they take on one of their toughest opponents, the Boston Celtics. The C's get Paul Pierce and Rajon Rondo back so even "sans KG," this should be a tough test for the Dinos.

Big Test Today
This should be a solid litmus test to see just how far along the “improvement curve” the Raps are…looking forward to the tip in about 20.
Which is surprising considering Allen torched him last time.

Looks like it right now.
Finally Raps go inside with some authority.

That's the key
As discussed in my preview, if Toronto can keep attacking inside with Bosh and Bargs, that should play to the Dinos’ favour. Perkins and Wallace aren’t quick enough to guard Bosh or Bargs.
This is Bosh's game to win
Great point in the preview about the danger of Boston’s inside game. If Bosh can put pressure on them and get them in foul trouble…
Big time – the team needs him to step up after a few suspect performances recently.

Great work by Bosh and Bargs
Since they’ve started attacking the interior, it’s caused big problems for the C’s.
wow, did bargs just get a call?
is he gaining some respect from the refs???
Yep – that’s what happens when you force the refs to blow the whistle. Great to see.

meanwhile, the turk is just murdering us!
good thing he’s getting a seat now
Hedo
frustrates me so much!
i just cant stand him.
intensity is picking up
we now need some techs for sheed/perk and a hard foul by jack on rondo, and this officially becomes a rivalry to watch
Rotations
Will say this. REALLY like Jay’s sub patterns now…that is, up until the “closing line-up” with Jack and Calderon.
Good First Q
Team got down early but went to their strengths to get back in it. Hopefully the Raps can sustain this as a win would be a HUGE statement.
another pitching battle at the acc
reminds me of last time doc rivers said it was buddy ball until the 3rd qtr
you think Bosh gets traded? we dont have anyone else at his level.
Toronto Maple Leafs: Bringin' The Pain Since 2009
Not close
I dread the thought of him leaving.

And then he got outrebounded by Ray Allen there!!!!
Luckily Allen tipped it out of bounds.

I love when they show stats like this
Lonnnnnnnnnnng way to go folks before we start comparing the Raps to LA, Boston etc.
Fouls
Are mounting for Celtics – need to keep seing Toronto attack as FT’s could be a deciding factor today.
Bench
hedo should ramin on the bench for the rest of the game
send a message
Boston
is getting a little too lucky with their shots, our defence has been solid.
Agreed
Need to see more from the Raps wings on O…that’s making the difference right now.

Hedo...
… looks perpetually tired and lathargic. Either he has a sleeping disorder or is just totally out of shape.
Halftime Thoughts
Raps down 9, 59 to 50 but game feels closer than that. Raps can’t seem to get over the hump and TO’s are a big part of the difference.
Also, Raps getting nothing from Hedo and very little from any other wing players.
That needs to change in the second half if TO wants to grab the W.
Refs on Boston's Side Today
Anyway, the Raptors actually look pretty good today, with the exception of Hedo Turkoglu. He looks tired. Most of the team looks intense, which is a blessing. I more blame the reffing than the Raps for this 1st half. It has been god awful!
Definitely some sketchy calls…Toronto needs to step up the intensity here though.

I think there’s a lot of interest from other players like Johnson, Weems and Calderon…but the team isn’t getting enough from the other starters.

I would too, even with that basket by Hedo.

I just put your comment on Twitter.

i hate how his attitude gets under cb4’s skin

With Rasheed on the bench, Raps need to make a run here.
Especially with Hedo out too.
Bosh and Bargs keeping Toronto in this.
our bigs keeping us hanging around, would love to see someone who could slash to the rim and put some pressure on there defence

This one ain't over though
If the Raps can tighten up the little things and get some production from a player like Weems or Belinelli, this one’s still there for the taking.
Marco
Need this production to get back in it here. Hopefully Triano rides the hot hand and doesn’t bring Hedo back in.
Oh my lord
What was that pathetic excuse for D that Hedo just displayed? He just sort of waved at the ball!
Moi Aussi
And not sure that’s the shot they wanted from Marco considering Boston’s bigs in foul trouble.

That's all she wrote
Disappointing finish considering the brief run to cut it to 4.
Some good things to take away from this one though, and some important lessons which we’ll get into tomorrow morning.
Thanks for chatting all, we’ll do it again tomorrow night!
theres just no fight on this team
sure triano got the tech but no player is showing any emotion. the refs are obviously favouring boston and id just like to see the players get up in their faces telling them off. they need to show their frustration no matter if we get a tech. i feel like this team continues to get bullied
