HAVE WE DONE ENOUGH TO KEEP HIM?
The MAJOR question that most likely won't be answered until much later on is "Will Chris stay or will he go?". The Brain trust of our beloved Raptors have tried various recipes and have added and removed a variety of different ingredients in an effort to not only compliment our MAIN ingredient, but ensure that he is the main ingredient for raptor fans to enjoy for years to come. The question is, have they done enough? The answer after the JUMP ....
Depending on what you hear around the league you will find varying opinions. Which is common because everybody knows that everyone has a crystal ball which gives them a unique vision into their perceived future for our Raptors. I will say this though, the version of the raptors we all witnessed last year was certainly NOT going to cut it. That said, the work of Colangelo and Company this off season has been nothing short of a miracle and that is no overstatement. Hear me out.
Think back a few weeks ago RHQ nation. When all we had to look forward to was Reggie Evans and an athletic rookie who was heavy in potential but light on experience. Tough times appeared imminent and the conversations about CB4 moved to, "what can we get for him?" and "at what point exactly should we try to get something for him?". OHHH what a difference a few weeks can bring. Apparently a lot, certainly the last few weeks in the world of Brian Colangelo and company. The man who was build up to be the savior of basketball north of the border. The man who wears suits that are as perfect as the hair atop Jimmy Johnson's head. The man who could do no wrong or so we thought. It would become evident that moves like Jermaine O`Neal and Jason Kapono appeared too costly even for Brian to recover from. I am obviously speaking from a financial and depth chart perspective. The same man who told us all that (at the time) he had put together his best work yet, when glaring holes such as toughness and depth were apparent to us all. Finally, we had found a loose thread in the expensive suit cladded GM. Worry and doubt grew in the pits of our stomachs as we could feel Chris slipping through our fingers. Chris didn't help the situation with certain comments made to certain media outlets, but hey .... could you blame him at the time? We had no hope or promise of anything good happening.
Like all great men, their greatness seems to come when they appear cornered and no possible moves can be made. In chess they refer to this as "CHECKMATE". Tied up and bound by contracts and decisions made by our very own chessmaster. At that moment when expectations and hope appeared lost, the "move" was made. The move that would turn an otherwise bleak year into a year which now looks much different. It came as a surprise to many. Others knew (right showtime) that the Chess Master was simply waiting for his time to strike and strike he did! The move I am reffering to was the move that brought Hedo Turkoglu to the Raptors. Part of what made the move sweet was the fact that we could even steal a player like Turkoglu from an up and coming team like Portland. It all seemed like it couldn't get any better and the raps fortune had finally turned for the better. HOLD ON, there was more ... because of great book keeping and a fantastic job of wheeling and dealing with 4 other teams we were ALSO able to free up some much needed cash. Enter Jarrett Jack and with him comes something we hadn't had three weeks ago .... HOPE. In my opinion Chris HAS to see and feel this hope as well ... my question for you RHQ nation is ... IS IT ENOUGH??

Chris says he hasn't made up his mind...
So far, Chris Bosh seems to have reputation for honesty so I’ll take him at his word. I think the whole girlfriend/pregnancy thing is quite revealing in that he said nothing about it until it came out. Ever since he responded (through his lawyer), I’ve not seen anything to contradict his side of the story. From this, I get that Chris very much values his privacy, seems to value honesty, and wants to be seen as a stand-up guy.
Until the summer’s over, I’m not making a decision

fair enough and this is all speculation ...
but at least the we are in better postion to show him that we are serious about building a winner right?

Trade him anyway
Bosh is overrated. He’s never going to lead this team anywhere. He’ll be a great number two guy somewhere else but he can’t handle being the number one guy in Toronto. I say if they can get some serviceable parts for him Colangelo has to move him. He is nowhere near the player that Lebron James, Dwight Howard or Dwayne Wade are and does not deserve max money that they’ll have to give him.
A Nation of Masochists TRUCULENCE!! It's not just a word. It's a way of life.
I don't see how you can compare Bosh to Lebron, Howard or Wade
They all play completely different positions. With the recent moves, its obvious Colangelo is building a team to win now. If for whatever reason, the team falls flat on the face, I agree, they would need to trade him by the trade deadline as they will get nothing if and when he walks in 2010. If the team is competitive, he should stick around and they will continue to build around him. Calling him overrated is a tad bit rediculous.

Let's play a game...
Say all NBA contracts are voided and all players are available. All thirty teams can start drafting and pick anyone they like. I think we can all agree that CB4 will not be in the first 5 players drafted. I also think that we can agree that CB4 will not drop into the second round. I suspect that he would likely go somewhere in the 10-15 spot.
When you do this, you are doing a comparison between Bosh and the others and it is very subjective. If you also put him in around 10-15, it means that there aren’t many player better than him and I’ll bet all of the top 20 players would get max money. Max money is not about whether you are the best player in the league. It’s more about the scarcity of top players and you have to overpay to get and keep one of them.
Another way to do a Bosh comparison would be to look at each team and do a straight up trade of Bosh for their best player (not taking into account contracts, other players, systems, etc). Would you trade CB4 to Cleveland for LeBron. In a heartbeat. Easy, so its not an even trade. How about CB4 to the Knicks for Lee. No, not really. This puts Bosh somewhere between LeBron and Lee. How about CB4 to the Celtics for Pierce or Garnett and so on.
Tell me something ....
What do you think we could get for Bosh? That would improve our squad MORE than having him here? Just curious ….

No one
The only reason Bosh is being traded is to prevent getting nothing in 2010. There isn’t a trade out there that improves the team more than having Bosh.
Sorry, you didn’t ask me, just wanted to put in my $0.02

Nothing of equivilent value
But it really depends on how the Raptors start the season.
I’m 90% certain he will sign with the Raptors. Whether he finishes out that contract with the Raptors is an entirely different question.
How Much $$$$$$
The question should be 2 fold, will he sign and at what cost? I just dont want to cripple us financially for the next five years….In a perfect world Bosh starts the season like he did pre mvp talk last season and Bargs starts like he finished.
