Turkoglu Is he what Toronto Needs
The core of the Toronto team is
Chris Bosh If he stays the team has a chance over time to do something relatively soon if not they would need to swing a large trade or build through the draft to become good.
Toronto has some nice pieces but they are counting on Turk to get all that potential to become a quality team, I don't think that is going to happen.
Calderon
Q. Bouby
Chris Bosh
Turkoglu
Bargnani
Problem with this line up is they don't have enough defense, and they don't have enough depth.
What the trade for Turk did was just to increase both of those problems and with out cap space to sign a big player next summer at least if they want to resign Bosh too they need to improve and it doesn't look too promising.
Was Turk the right move for them to make?

I'm not sure Toronto chose Turk,
It seems likeTurk’s wife chose Toronto. For better or worse thats where he’s at for the next 5.

Triano’s just mentioned that DeMar has a pretty good chance to start.

silly question
Yes. He is. Now stop asking silly questions just to have a FANPOST. lol. ;)
I think you’ll see over this season just how good this startin lineup will be. And if the rumoured offer sheet to Jarret Jack goes through, you can count on this team being serious players in the East, even without all the superstars of Boston and Cleveland.
Skill players. Consistent Bosh. Crunch time Turk. Solid backup PG (hopefully) in Jack. And a few more 2nd line pieces and this team i gonna be sick! You’ll see.
I am SOOOOO pumped for this season. So pumped!
Crunch time Turk? Sure he’s a good player but I wouldn’t exactly call him crunch time…
I’d say you’re overrating him just a tad due to the fact that the Magic went to the finals.
He was after all the 4th option on the Magic when they were fully healthy
i don't think that's accurate
because the Magic didn’t really have a traditional offense. Turkoglu really was the point forward on the team in kind of a Divac sort of way, and he handled the ball a LOT. there were really only 4 options of the starters and they were all essentially equal…

Give new coaches a chance
Lets give the new coaches a chance to work their defensive schemes in with this unit.
I liked the strides Bargnani showed last season and consider him an intelligent player. His defence will continue to get better.
Getting Turk the way they did really didn’t hurt them in the depth department
After all they brought in Wright with the same trade who should be a decent contributor. If DeMar isn’t ready to start at the beginning of the season I’d imagine they’d be starting Wright at the SG spot, and not Douby…
They did lose Humphries but with the addition of Evans he’s easily replaceable so they don’t lose anything there.
The biggest issue I have with it is that I don’t see Bargnani as being able to play at C very well. The reason that’s an issue is because I’d say Bargnani’s ideal role is the one that Turkoglu has just been brought in to fill. While Turkoglu is a better playmaker, last season Bargnani was a more efficient shooter. And while Bargnani could be inconsistent, he is still young and seems to be on the right path to being a good player.
What the Raptors really need the most imo is a real C, but they are incredibly hard to find…
When the Raptors Backed up their hitch to the Bargs train
They gave up any chance of having a conventional C unless Bosh leaves. This is why it was important to get a big 3… I am not sure Turk is the right guy but they had to make these moves to assuade Bosh… Simply they couldn’t risk not doing something this year with the cap going down for next year and some extentions kicking in. At this point we have to hope that the paint will be open for our wings to drive because our 4 and 5 won’t be in the paint. We have to hope that we can rebound as a team and pressure other teams with tempo. We will be able to score like crazy but won’t be able to stop anyone so I hope we sneak in with the 7th or 8th seed and battle hard. Bring back Pops… would rather give him minutes than that no talent male part grabbing Evans…

teams don't use "traditional" Cs anymore.
and I think you’re being a little hyperbolic… first off, Bargs was top-20 in BPG last season, and it’s not like any team, no matter how bad, is going to give up and score 200 a game. Hopefully Triano can get a defensive scheme of forcing to the middle, because three near-7-footers is a nice thing to have no matter what.
