Canadian NCAA Schedule - Dec 4 - 6
There is lots of big time action this weekend including a super, jam packed, stuffed to the rafters hardcourt playing by our Canadian ballers. Nicholson vs Varnardo and Sacre and the Zags vs Aminu and the Demon Deacons will highlight the weekend games but there is plenty more in store. Many of our boys will be taking on some very tough opponents starting Friday night so check out the only NCAA schedule that matters here in The Can Ball Report.
Remember that the games in bold are games that The Can Ball Report thinks you should make the extra effort to watch. Saturday will be a very busy day in NCAA hoops so there are many games highlighted meaning lots of major contributors playing against some big teams or in big early season games. Unless you have a wall of tvs or a really, really big computer monitor, we suggest you chose your game watching ahead of time to avoid disappointment. And remember to support Canadian ballers everywhere!
Dec 4
Central Arkansas @ Cal State Fullerton
Manhattan @ Niagara
Bucknell @ Binghamton
SIU-Edwardsville @ Drake
Dec 5
Cleveland State @ Detroit
St. Bonaventure @ Mississippi State - this should be a good indicator of how far Nicholson's come as a player since he'll likely be matched up against potential lottery pick Jarvis Varnardo.
Fairleigh Dickinson @ Quinnipiac
Columbia @ Stony Brook
Vermont @ N.J.I.T. - a rejuvenated Maurice Joseph is worth watching.
Brown @ Minnesota - Devoe Joseph is making a steady name for himself now.
Belmont @ Mercer
Western Carolina @ Furman
Davidson @ Charleston - Will Archambault had 20 pts in last Davidson game.
Northeastern @ Drexel
Central Connecticut State @ Long Island
Buffalo @ Purdue
Wake Forest @ Gonzaga - a great game for sure. Sacre will have to defend Al-Farouq Aminu and the other Canucks should play meaningful minutes here.

Eastern Kentucky @ Tennessee-Martin
Maine @ Syracuse - Rautins and Joseph, always fun to watch, will welcome Canadian freshmen Allison and Burnatowski to big time college ball.

Bol Kong 5 for 5 from 3
15 points for KONG in GUs loss to wake forest
Ray do you know if Bol is being considered for a tryout for turkey with team canada? Also is kris joseph at syracuse on any canadian team? Potentially 4 josephs could be on team canada with kris, maurice, devoe and cory
Answer 1
With regards to Bol Kong being considered for Turkey 2010, I’m not sure. Like most national sporting organizations, I’m sure there is a set list of guys that they will extend invitations to but there is always a chance for others to get invited as well. I was not aware of Bol Kong being invited for the past summer, but that doesn’t mean that he will not be invited to this summer’s team. Time will tell.

sorry one more question has andrew nicholson or alex johnson ever represented canada at any level? if not he should, also talking to tristan blackwood on FB he told me he thinks be is better than ryan bell but rautins and company didnt pick him as a backup to jermaine
Answer 2
Nicholson and Johnson have not repped for Canada that I know although Johnson may have played on the the U19 team but I’m not sure.
I know that Nicholson was invited to be at the camp this summer but he was not able to attend due to school commitments. Johnson, I’m not sure of. Both have a shot at playing on the national team for sure with Andrew having a better shot right now.
And I’m with you on Blackwood. I’ve always like his game and he did have big credentials coming out of Central Connecticut State. I’m not sure what the selection process is but Canada Basketball has not really releasing that info anyway. I’m sure that there was consideration given to Blackwood and I’m hoping that he gets consideration for next summer. I’d love to see him in the CB backcourt. Kepkay is a tough guard and is instant offence when he’s on the floor so I’m sure that it would be tough to pick between the two.
As always you’ve got great questions. IF you can, email me Tristan’s FB info. I’d like to talk to him for sure about his pro career.

also canada bball would be hard pressed to find another guy with more natural talent than Bol Kong and his showings thus far at GU have been really impressive, when you have Jamaal Crawford saying you will be in the NBA one day thats is pretty good and I know bol has jamaals backing as well as fellow countryman luol deng. Thanks for the answers to my questions and as always ill keep em coming!
