Around SBN: Shaq As Orlando Magic General Manager? Don't Bet On It

Lunchbox Links

In case you missed it, it was a really great weekend for the high-flying duo of DeMar DeRozan and Sonny Weems.

Backups Amir Johnson and Marcus Banks are also proving their worth lately.

Kelly Dwyer goes Behind the Box Score to look at the Toronto Raptors' 24-assist effort against the Charlotte New Orleans Hornets. Check out the video from NBA.com.

Arsenalist from Raptors Republic thinks it was a quality team win to feel good about, however some credit should be given to Chris Paul's injury.

Michael Grange points out the similarities in numbers per 36 minutes between Hedo Turkoglu and Sonny Weems. The only difference is about $9.9 million per season!

Star-divide

More on yesterday's win from the Times-Picayune, Hornets 247 and Big Easy Buzz Blog.

Leave it to the Toronto Star's Dave Feschuk to chim in with this little nugget:

But the Raptors are celebrating their 15th season as the active NBA franchise with the fourth-worst winning percentage in league history, ahead of only the Clippers, Bobcats and Grizzlies.

The Sun-Sentinel's Ira Winderman gives his thoughts on whether Chris Bosh is truly a max player. Short answer: He is if you have any hope in hell of luring him to Miami.

The upcoming holidays are the perfect excuse for The Score's Holly MacKenzie to highlight Amir Johnson's caroling skills.

Play of the Year candidate.

Comparing salaries is just silly

Because in most teams you will see that veteran or more experienced players get paid more than the young layers. having experienced players will raise the confidence level of the whole team. Anyone who looks at numbers and compares players accordingly has probably not played any sport and does not know what the word “experience” means. There is no doubt however that an overly experienced player might at some point be too old and becomes a burden to the team… but at that point the franchise management will decide if that player is somehow brining in some +ve cash flow that counter his low performance.
With Hedo, not sure the guy really overpaid if compared to other similar players in the league. I also don’t think he is that old and that he is not adding to the team. I think we are still far from even thinking about him as an old player.
